I just picked up a 03 RX1 with a simons front mount turbo. When I got it home 1st thing I had to do is pull the carbs off and clean them because when I grab a handfull of throttle it would studder and bog till it hit higher rpm. And sometimes even stall at idle. And yes the little rubber o rings are in place this makes number 3 RX1 that I own. After cleaning the carbs it is much better but heres my issue when it takes off about 5 to 6 rpms I have still a slight hesitation then pulls hard to 10,400 rpms. Could it be turbo lag? I hear the front mounts shouldn't have that problem because its location. The jets are stock 135s do I jet up? Plugs are new stock and cardboard brown so they look right. I have just a boost gauge on it should I install a air fuel on it also? Thanks again

I am new to the turbo deal but have been working on mine for 2 yrs. I have found that 1st of all you need a temp guage and these things won't work right until it is warmed up. Mine is a rear mount bender set up and would fall on its face when I bought it. I am running 137.5 jets and the bender has a pitot jet in the charge tube prior to the intercooler that you use to fine tune the jetting. I am running a 200 jet in the tube.

Mine has to idle for about 8 to 10 minutes depending on temp to even start getting warm. It still has a little burble depending on the rpms when you let off the throttle and then nail it again alot of this I think has to do with the backshift of the clutch spinning the motor crating back pressure then when you get back on it. I also added 02 censor and boost guage I can read the boost but when this thing kicks in I can't see the numbers on the digital readout of the 02 censor because it takes off like a roket and the numbers scroll around so fast.

I have seen all kinds of posts about jetting on here some say stock 135's but my feeling is if you create the boost you force more air you need a bit more fuel to add to the mix. I would rather run a bit rich than to lean and burn a piston.

i don.t know if this helps , i run SC in mi and my mains are 132.5 with a/f guage it runs great , check fuel screws set at 1 to 2 turns out my needles are stock. this is a carbed sc 8lbs

I am letting the sled warm up and also idle down before shuting it down. Yes it is what I would call a burble when I'm on and off the gas. As far as a pilot jet in the charge tube? I have nothing like that I think that is just used in the bender setup I think? Just was wondering if this burble was normal for a front mount turbo. I have'nt snyc the carbs yet this also could be the culprit just a little more test and tuning maybe.

check the pilot tube in the intercooler it is made of iron and it will rust and plug up .It is found on the right side of the intercooler .Remove it and drill out the rust.
