I have an 08 Apex, it has 1690Kms (just over 1000mi) on it. Under hard acceleration there is a very noticeable hesitation before the rpms jump. This level and length of this hesitation varies. I've had occasional backfires on occasion too.

I noticed that the primary is squeaking too, I changed the belt just now. I havn't had the opportunity to test it yet. I have a feeling the bog has nothing to do with the clutches/belt though.

Can anyone explain what is happening? and how to correct this?

Need more info......What mods do you have.....I am betting you have a ram air and that it is lean on the bottom end......if so you have to do the papper clip trick and turn up the fuel on the bottom end or get a power commander.

Probably not so much a backfire but a lean pop as explained above. You can try adjusting to get the bottom end a little richer. The instructions are written by Allen Ulmer from Ulmer Racing and copied/pasted from his website www.ulmerracing.com. Great product and service if your looking for accessories or a little more performance from your sled.

Hope you don't mind Allen, I know you have this info on this site somewhere anyway. ;)!

Ive experienced this under 2 different circumstances;

I have a mod airbox, had to adjust CO settings as explained above.

Also this can be caused by stage seperation in fuel due to the ethanol.. i ran some injector cleaner through my tank once, and every other fill up now i put in blue stabilizer, that has cleared it up.

Hope this helps

Mine was doing the same thing the 1st time I took it out. Hesitating and sometimes backfiring. Was old gas.

I don't have any mods... yet. After RunninRX1's post I will burn off the tank of gas and see how it goes. Should I still adjust the CO settings on stock sled if I continue to have problems?

I found the instructions on Ulmers site... I've actually used the filter relocation kit instructions to get at the filter for my first change :)
