high mileage sleds

I sold my first apex last feb with 21700 miles on it. The engine was great no issues other than the ignitor and a starter.
The body of the sled was an other thing. All the rivets that hold the tunnel to the bulkhead on the clutch side were loose very loose and most of the holes were enlarged and the tunnel moved out of place. I tried to line things up as best as posible and add many more to the weak area.
That was all a big bump and a viration started. I did'nt get enough rivets, this time it was where the cast member that the front end hooks to and rivets to the main bulkhead. thuis area was flexing alot. more rivrts again.


My warnig is to check the bulhead rivets in these areas. I am before winter comes am going to add lots more rivets to these areas to add strength.
 

1980 ss 440 has 15000+ mi sold it my buddy as far as i know its still running he may have replaced the fan belt tho lol..

07 Apex GT Started with Yamcharger a 2000mile, then went MPI S/C to 3000miles, Then went MCXpress 260 to 5000miles, Them up graded to MCXpress310 till now 12000miles motor only as head shim still running strong..Track dynoed at 230.2 last fall. The important thing is to keep a close eye on everything and do the maintenance..

I have 13000 on my 06 apex GT have broken both the front and the rear arm of the suspension had a couple of drive bearing go bad,exhaust donuts twice and the stator went bad also the ground plugs in the wiring harness behind the clutch and a cracked slide rail and bolts came out of the timing gear and were hitting the case at 1600mi. other than that the sled has been great.
 
Have a 2011 Apex XTX with 30,000 miles and a 2016 Vector XTX with 20,000 miles. had to put a stater plate in the Apex that's it. Both sleds run great
 
Vector with 13k. Had to replace the starter relay. Anything else that broke was my fault. It pulled 106 on the dream meter yesterday in soft snow.

Amen! Too bad the days of 45,000 mile valve adjustments, timing chains at 80,000 miles, 17-20mpg, idlers that last 50,000 miles (with service), and more are nothing but a distant memory.:(
