2013 Apex SE creeping up on 12,000. Just got back from a 3 day getting ready to do a 4 day noticed inside suspension wheels wearing a lot more then outside in fact noticed a chunk of rubber missing. Was wondering why Yamaha had fancy ones (spooked) in the middle were you can't see them. Six the same, figured if I had rotated every year or 3,000 miles I wouldn't be buying 2 new ones.

Are you studded? The heads of the studs can be hard on those inner wheels...

I have had this happen a few times, don't run studs either, ice chunks thrash around in there and can't get out, have had a few wheels with chunks blown off and one mangled completely. It happens.

Apexallday I have been thinking about what to do about the ice chunks when starting your next day from a hotel, was wondering about backing up first thing to try and clear early morning ice. Heading out on a 4 day round trip Friday so will give that a try.

I normally clear as much ice build up off the back end of the sled when done for the day, then in the morning pick up the #*$&@ end and bounce it a couple times to break up the frozen bits before leaving again. Haven't tried running in reverse, some guys have a buddy pick up the back end and then spin the track both ways to clear the tunnel.
The ice chunks make an awful racket when getting bounced around inside the tunnel, you swear you have broken something, but it eventually clears. I have been toying with the idea of removing tunnel protectors because they build up and retain a ton of snow/ice. On the 11+ Apex, the protectors are super easy to remove, 4 nuts per side.

Yes same very nervracking, I have removed my tunnel protectors as I do not run studs and polished the inside by the exhaust with Flex polish and have less ice build up then before.

I always run my sled in reverse first thing in the morning it gets the chunks out every time.
