I ride Gaylord and the UP a lot and have played with the front floats a lot, I found that 52 psi works great for cornering and trail ride and have yet to bottom even on trail 8 in the UP
Bro do you realize that post is from 2008? Glad to hear you have a good set up...hope 777 is reading this?
Actually I did. I had read this a long time ago before I bought my nytro, it is actualy how I found lakeeffect for my risers. I'm knew about the mono last year when inpicked up my risers I just thought that the psi info might be relevant since I've tried a lot and found hat to work... And to post the link for 777!
You guys realize my post was deleted by the mods? I got a PM about it. That kind of action makes me wonder what else gets deleated? Maybe more people wouldn't buy the wrong sled like I things weren't whitewashed to look better than reality. That is no way to sell people on a brand or snowmobile.

Too bad he left the sport, I thought that shock would help keep him in it. Let me know how it works for you.

Keep posting that kind of $hit and they will give you a vacation. It got deleted because all you did was backhandedly bash the Nytro. A lot of us love our nytros and all I had to do to get it working good was Skis, set up and steering post relo...you love Polaris and bash the Nytro yet Polaris has had some of the biggest POS in the last decade...need I say Fusion? And the Rush hasn't lived up to it's billing yet either...maybe why they reintroduced the Indy (because that's the last time they made a good sled) to go back to a in tunnel skid? Go buy a 2 stroke POS and enjoy your out of the box perfection...

100+ miles today and I'm very happy. I like it. I'm going to try to get some others impressions tomorrow but so far I'm sold on it.bjowett said:Superman said:Brian, The Mono shock I put in the Nytro has the Ohlins shock you built for Nick1945 last year.

I just saw this and your response is completely unnecessary and constitutes bashing.

Did you bolt that right up to the stock mounting holes? Would love to hear more about it's performance compared to the stock skid.

However tomorrow I'm taking her out for a ride with a mono shock rear suspension mounted in the tunnel. Can't wait to see how it rides. Feels great in the shop. The last couple of years I've had the SE floats on mine and I'm also right around 50 psi.
Thats the first that Ive heard of that being done. Let us know how it works! Post some pics if you get a chance.
I will. I had to make a new and longer rear mount shaft because the width of the mounts is wider on the Nytro. (Apex and Vectors have stepped rear mounts. Nytros are straight.) the front mounts are about 2" back and the rear location is in the stock holes. The 121 rails of mono shock are just a little bit shorter. So I guess the approach angle should be a little less.
Here's your answer to the mounting

Thanks Toyota4runner. Yep rear mounts are stock and fronts are approximately 2" back. The 121 would be the easiest to put in a shorty. I think the 128 and 136 mono's both have the separate rear idler shaft. Don't quote me on the 128, I'm pretty sure it does.
I just quickly buttoned it up before last weekend. I haven't' checked anything on my front end. I need to go back to the Mountain ski set up I've run since new. I haven't checked my float pressure or made any fine tune adjustments yet. I couldn't say exactly where the Ohlins is set. The balance of the sled is different/better?. I wasn't transferring as much as the stock skid but I don't really know where the transfer rod is set either. I really need to give the sled a complete look over this weekend and make a few more test runs. So far if I had to pick words to describe what I was feeling it would be Plush and comfortable. I only had a couple of G outs and straight edge change of direction hits but there were NO bottom outs. Stutter bump, kidney tickling and bladder leaking is gone. My initial feeling about the Ohlins shock is really really good. I talked to Brian the other day and he explained the Ohlins PDS to me and it makes sense on what I was feeling thru the seat. I'm a very happy happy camper at the moment.
Gade-thrasher are you going to the give-away ride? If so your welcome take it for a spin and check it out. See what you think?

Yes, I will be at the give away ride and I do appreciate the offer. I'm sure the mono will ride really nice. But I'm curious what the drawbacks are compared to the stock skid - if any.

The PDS really turns the mono into an everything skid. The downside, it's not cheap... and the shock needs to be completely broken down to install it, body removed from the cylinder head, etc.

Don't know yet. I'll evaluate more over the next couple of weeks.
