Throttle Jockey said:So if the demo guy was going 60 around a corner. I guess the skis and carbides were working. You stated the obvious you love your 05 vector (sit back and lounge sled) and were basically nervous on the nytro & phazer. Is it the sleds fault or is it your riding style / preference. Plus you have your sled setup I'm assuming. The demo sleds are for the most part out of the crate sleds.
He knows that section of trail by heart. He told me it was his 27th time that day..... On the way back (on mine) I took the same trail at nearly the same speed.. within 5mph.. No problems at all.. Yes I have that thing dialed in.. I just sit back, no ski lift and ride... P.S. I DO NOT normally ride anywhere near that speed in corners.. So the combination of strange sled and faster than my ability speed.. Bad combo.......MM. And yes the 09 is "MUCH" better than the 08 for darting..

Sound's like them. When i first looked at them i was not sure but decided to give them a try. I have spent thousands on ski's and every thing else in the book and after 900 Mi they are still the best thing i have been on for tracking and cornering (no trade off's). Only reason for different ski's is to go wider for flotation and that i don't need being a flatlander. I am good for a lot more Mi in a day (a lot less fatigue). kviperMadMax said:kviper said:Duece bar's are a nice improvement but the Snow tracker's are the ultimate, Hand's down!!!
Are those the funny looking things that look like two knife blades hanging down??????????MM.

MadMax said:Here's the sad part. Started my ride on a 08 nytro.. The yammie guy took off like blair morgan.. Holy cow.... I mean 60 mph around corners.. Well needless to say I was scared to death. I fell so far behind they thought I hit a tree.. So they stopped and waited.. The leader asked if anyone wanted to trade off.. Yup! The 09 was there.. So I took that.. It felt much better.. But it still felt like the trails had turned into poop... Well I fell way behind again.. They stopped and we switched again.. This time to a phazer... Not a bad little machine. Again all over the place... We got back and I flat out told the guy in charge how bad his skis with stock crappy 3" carbides were. I told my group how bad the trails were now.. So we decided to head back to the hotel and wait until a groomer went by.. Guess what!
Now the good news.. On my 05 vector the trails were great.. No darting, no bad bumps nothing... We got back and everyone asked me about the trail.. It's not bad... Hmmm All of us have duece bars on.. I tell ya they are soooooooooooo worth the money... If yammie would put them on from the factory most issues with twitchy steering would be solved...... Bottom line.. My vector was far nicer to ride than any of the new fangled rider forward stuff.. For "ME" at least.. I love my vector and the way it sits and handles the trails.
Yep, I'm feelin' mighty lame on every demo ride compared to the rest of you. It just seems like everyone else has a comfort level that's far different from mine. I could say it's about setup, but when everyone else is a minute or three ahead, I know it's about me.
I admit "set them up!" I agree that when I got back on my Rage, I was feeling at home because of carbides and studs. They need to at least do something about the carbides.
The Nytro is a drastic change in rider position. I know I like the Apex position, because I still feel I can sit, feel a little "locked in" and stand, but the Nytro can grow on you and is awesome for standing!

Did anybody else feel the 121 Nitro was quicker than the 144? I did, but it could have been the icy trails.

I have the semi agressive setup, The bar's are 13/16" tall by 1/4" thick. The knife's you are refering to is the Defuser, It is chanel shaped and is slightly shorter than the bar's and about 1/8" thick, They do not seem to take any topend or MPG away. I don't post a lot in here about product's or acessories because most of this stuff is personal preference but hunting/tracking/darting and the sacrafices made to solve this problem is one of the number one complaint's that i hear about on the four stroke's. These thing's work with out any trade off's. kviperMadMax said:kviper said:OOPS!!

This is not a bash but this sure does not seem like an honest demo report to me. What about the ride, performance, braking, comfort, seat, windshield, etc......... ? Riding only a few miles in a completely new riding style and saying your vector rides better is comical in my opinion. I guarantee if you rode a rider forward sled for a couple of weeks you would never go back to that vector unless you had to. Although the difference is not as great, would it be better to sit like a Harley or a MX bike riding a motorcycle on the same trails in the summer ? I am not sure about the Nytro but my Apex allows the rider to ride forward or old school, but when riding hard forward is much easier. Rider forward machines make everyone a better rider in my opinion.
My Apex was down this past weekend and I hated the idea of having to ride my SRX, I am not saying the SRX is bad it just does not compare to the rider forward Apex. Also if I based my buying decision on something I did not like but could change like wear bars or windshields, I would still be on my Exciter as both had to be changed for my likings on my last 4 sleds.

I 100% agree. I ride with my bud's more but my best trips are always with the wife. Definately more relaxing when she goes. Somewhere around a 120 to 150 miles a day is what I can get out of her.

Braking... The same.
Comfort... Not as good... By the way, my wifes rides a 01 V-max and that feels like i'm on the ground compared to my vector..
Wind protection. Not good.
Motor pull.. Excellent!!!!!!!!!!
Handle bar. Yuk!!!!
Gauges, Yuk!
Seat comfort. Not enough seat time.. But not as comfy as my old trusty vector.
"ALL" these things could be addressed to fit me better, but to me it's not my style... I can't stand the revs either.. I don't care for my buddies new 08 vector over mine.. Feels like I'm going to get a nose bleed.
Now, how's that for a honest report.... MM.

Agreed......... I "REALLY" wanted to ride the nytro.. I was hoping some of the other reports from "OTHER" sites were flawed in some bias way... But the darting issue just leaves a verrry bad taste in my mouth... People who ride my sled can't believe how straight and relaxed it feels at any speed... And yes before the duece bars were put on my wifes V-max it was all over the trail.. And yes.. The 09 nytro was much more stable than the 121 08 was.. MM.

Well I went from a SRX to an Apex GT, Which was a tippy experience. Then I changed the sway bar to a 12mm and dropped the front end spring load and loosened off the limiter strap. The rear transfer is set to mid. I can corner just about as flat as a SRX using allot of body weigh on the right snow. So now I jump on Turks new Nitro that has a Hauk fuel controller and Dragonfly clutching with cobra track (300 hours of set up time) and this thing is insane. Here is the deal, it is a dirt bike and a hand full, and it makes you work up a sweat. The sled takes some getting used to, but once you have ridden 20 hours of seat time you would never give it up. If you want to ride a couch don’t buy a Nitro. I agree that the demo ride sleds are set up like poo and the skis and carbides are crap. What else is new? Every new Doo XP I have ridden is hard to steer and feels numb. You have to ride a buddy’s sled that is set up close to your weight and riding style & get some seat time before you plop down the $$$.
Note to self: Price of new sled + $1000.00 for tweaking.
