This also makes me appreciate just how much money I'm saving by doing my own maintenance. I'll have to remember this as justification to my wife when she questions me spending $1000 on a nitrous system.
"but honey, it's OK. I saved all that money by doing my own wrenching" LOL

I would agree that you had a tech that you where paying for his education he should got that work done in about 5-6 hrs. go to dealer and question the time and call a another dealer that is close to you and ask what it would take to do the job.
You surely took a beating but if your only paying $74/ hr be happy we have to pay $87/ hr by the way book rate and real time ain't the same that's why I like to learn to do it myself these people on here can help talk you through it If you don't have the tools the money you save by doing it yourself you can by them if you have to take it to a dealer get more than one estimate had have them break it down for you

Highs & lows for dealer labor settles about $60 to $65 an hour USA. The highest I was quoted was $85 per hour & told that dealer no way & cut back to $60 an hour. Some dealers service both boats & sleds they charge much higher shop rate on boats so you need to remind them this is a sled & go from there.

Shops around Green Bay and the Fox Valley are over $100.00 from what i've heard! I'm almost sure the 2 i deal with are $80.00 per hour.
One, (a friends dealership)wanted over $200.00 to check my valves on my Raptor, the other dealer told me $80.00. I said really? Ya, he said, it only takes about an hour. Kind of hurt what my friend quoted me, i never said anything though. Bought more then one Yamahas from him and got very, very good prices!
