Honest replys please XTX

Not that anyone wants to talk about their weight, but I am curious if rider size affects the stiffness issue?
Very much so. I'm a strong 240lb before gear and I notice that it's stiff, but I believe perfect for me.

I have well documented my opinion on this in other threads, so feel free to look them over. But I moved from an 07 GT last spring to a new XTX. I was going to go shortie until I found a deal I could not pass up on the XTX. Best thing that could have happened. There is no issue with track length. As that is what the OP was asking about. That and the fact that you can load up the front end with carbide and weight with no additional steering effort.

I have done nothing more than added Woody's Dooleys and have not looked back. This animal screams through corners and rough trails. I love the feeling of driving home after a couple hundred miles with no sore shoulders.

Good luck!

I'm 325 and in the stutter bumps it bounces me on the seat. 1400 on the Star kit and the ride is much improved. still ironing out the ski lift and now my front (ski's) tend to bottom sometimes if landing on the front. I would not go back to stock the ride is soft without bottoming hard (bottoms the same as stock, nothing bone jaring) and it still handles the big bumps as before.

I went from 3 clicks from full soft to 6 clicks from full soft and its about right. I put the 5 position adjusters on and position 4 is perfect for solo and position 5 for loaded with luggage.

I added the snowtrackers last year and swear by them. Best money ever spent other then the star kits. Darting and bite solved!

Looking at decreasing the front skid spring pressure (added heavier front spring) and or increasing the ski spring pressure along with sucking up the limiter one hole. Ski lift is more then stock with sick transfer that can be great for lifting the front over things.

If you are going to a newer Apex from your 07 I really don't think you will notice it much for a percentage of tight twisty trails that you do. Newer Apex handles that much better. If you do get it and need some help with set up pm me and I can help you get it railing nice for the twistys and all round handling.
However if all you do is tight twisty trails, newer Nytro or Viper is better. I have had them all with some good saddle time in each machine.
Bottom line though Apex XTX is my fave and always puts a smile on my face.;)!
Plus lets not forget the power steering. Major!!!!!!!

Any time. My pleasure. If you are ever up to the Bancroft area shoot me a pm and I'll give you a tour. I'm with the Maple Leaf Snow Skimmers Club and we run the trails from Bancroft north to Whitney, East to Combermere and west to the Haliburton Trails.;)!

Amongst many other questions I have xtx vs se how is it for transition to a standing position from sitting. That is the biggest thing I enjoyed while riding the Viper. Standing up was simply effortless. I really like the seating position & I'm assuming the XTX is more similar to my current apex ('06 RTX. )

XTX seating position is higher than the 06 RTX. Not quite as forward or as high as the Viper.

Hi guys,
I want to trade in my 07 gt for a newer apex,
Serious looking at the 144 xtx,
I would like honest opinions on how they handle the twisties or I'm I better off with standard apex,
There is a percentage of tight trails where I ride,
I won't be riding 100mph in the bush trails just looking for feed back from xtx owners who ride in some tight trails...
Thanks in advance...
I have a 2012 Apex XTX my bud has 128 2011 Apex SE & the SE is much more nimble in the tight twistys. He lives in an area where trails are goat paths so he bought for his needs I bought for mine which are different. I ride lakes & unplowed FRs to get to trails so I do need the 144 for floatation. The 144 does lots of things well where the SE is best on trails not so good at powder. So best advise is pick the sled that suits what you do the most if tight Twistys buy the SE but don't expect a 128 to do well in powpow too heavy for that. XTX is multipurpose the SE not so much.

I went from the Apex 2006 GT , to the Apex 2015 XTX , and would not go shorty again .
This sled , with the tipped up 144 , and power steering feels like it will never get stuck , off trail , as opposed to the shorty , that was always getting stuck .
the long track seams to balance the sled better than the shorty .

and it hooks up way better !

[have to UO get it to ride betterTE="Sledroll, post: 1219845, member: 3778"]add the WRP seat and lake effect pivot riser , and it will be much closer to the Viper , but still an Apex ![/QUOTE]
Sounds like a good idea. reminds me of another question I have. if you are already buying a new snowmobile and have to spend money into it just to get it to ride better is there an advantage to just buying the SE and not have to put any other money into it?

2.5 " pivot handlebar riser , and only rerouted the throttle cable under the bars instead of over .
This is a little higher than using the Yamaha Mountain riser ,which I did on my 2006 Apex GT, and can be angled forward or back .
I also purchased the 3" pivot riser , that goes on the base , but haven't got around to trying it out .
