I block half the tunnel off trying to cure or at least help with the tunnel icing

I installed a similar plate but it didn't do much to reduce tunnel icing. I added an additional plate to the tunnel protectors and between the two I now have very little icing.

Riveted it to the tunnel protectors, .05" aluminum sheet from McMaster Carr.

No good answer to that. I don't normally run studs but you never know, I might someday or If I sell it someone else might want to stud the track. I also installed a mountain heat exchanger and I guess I liked having the tunnel protector next to it. If the plate I added didn't reduce the icing I probably would have removed them.

wish i could of made a fix that easy Grizz but I'm running studs this is what i did...

GTO i commented on your youtube video but ill just talk to you on TY... anyways i haven't ridden the Nytro yet with both holes all closed up but I'm pretty sure it will help.

Man, my tunnel never ices up. Maybe it is because I live in screwed up MN where it NEVER snows. All my sled does is take up space in the garage. Such a shame for such a nice sled! So much for that thing they call La Nina.

Ive got a block off Plate and i still get ice build up so im gonna try spraying tire shine foam under there to see if it might help. It will just make the tunnel very greasy and hopefully the snow and ice will not stick as much or atleast fall off easier if i pick the sled up and slam it down. Worth a try i guess. Has anyone ever tried this before ?

Well here's my report for what i did.
92miles in soft powder
50 miles in icey crap
No icing problems at all period, plus in the icy crap it never over heated once which i am mega pleased with. so all in all i am very happy.

Why and where is all the moisture coming from to create all this ice? Is the warm air in the tunnel creating this? Or is the exhaust making the tunnel itself warm?

I think most of us agree that the snow hits the hot pipe / muffler and vaporizes into steam. Then builds up as ice as it touches on the cool tunnel and protectors.
Growing slowly at first, but at some point it hits a rapid rate of collection.
