Can I wire a set of Hot grips or other aftermarket hand warmers to our factory system if I go to MX style bars?

Yes, you can.
As a general rule, you don't want to go below about 7 ohms per grip to be safe (6 Ohms absolute minimum).

Rockmeister, you rule! Have gone 2 long rides w/ Yamaheater absolutely can't believe how easy insatall it was on08 nyrto. And do they ever work! Hats off to you, probably worth twice the price. Thanx.
