After the ECM update reflash, I am still have hot starting issues. Three times...no start since reflash...1st P1339 code and 2nd and 3rd time was P1338 code. Any one still having this issue after the reflash?

Take it back and have them do it again. You should not be seeing codes especially. Are you just grabbing the key and cranking it? No waiting for pump no waiting for guage just turn the key and crank to count of ten? That is best way I have found. Should start even in warm weather by 3-5 count. If not running by 10 give it a break with key all the way off and repeat.

Got the call from the dealer. The reflash they did a few weeks ago did not upload into the ECM correctly. They reflashed it today and verified the version is now correct. Hopefully my issues are over.

For those that have not done the flash yet, I would suggest you ask the dealer to reboot his laptop before they do your flash.

Let us know if this helps. Hope it does. Others need to know and stop being afraid of that reflash.

Just had the ECU update done yesterday after having my starter replaced, will get out today and hope all is well. I must add I have 9200 kms on this sled and and a couple minor hot start issues last year but nothing this year with close to 4000 kms so far.

I can add for assurance, my 2015 has not had any starting issues (other than a defective battery). It has started now multiple times first turn of the key in single, teens,, twenties, thirties, hot, cold all on the first turn of the key. Idle is stable within 10rpm of 1500. Every once I a while I get a slight hint of backfire when decelerating, but not a bang. Very happy with starts.

I will also mention that when my battery went bad, it would turn over the motor but not fire it up. I had a defective cell in the new original battery and it would not take a full charge or delivery full cranking amps. When I first got the sled in late summer it started fine until late fall when colder weather arrived. I tried to charge it as suggested by the dealer at a 2Amp/hr rate. My diagnostic charger indicated a "bad cell" and the dealer saw the same thing on their battery diagnostic equipment. It did charge to over 12V, but could not start the sled. Battery replaced under warranty at beginning of season and have not had a starting issue since.

Rode 170miles today and didn't have any hot starting issues. Engine seemed fine and ran good. Idle RPM fluctuates up and down a little, I can live with it.

I have had hot and cold starting issues on my '15 and I agree it is annoying. When I take it in for the 500 mile check up I will be asking the question as to weather or not it was a sled that needed the flash and or if they flashed it. If it was reflashed I will be having them redo it. sometimes it starts right up sometimes it takes 3 tries. just turning the key all the way. I have not tried waiting for the prime, as I read most had more issues that way then w/just cranking it. This is hot and cold. 2 weeks ago started sled let it warm up took it off trailer rode it around motel to by the door of my room went in and geared up. Came back out to start the sled and it took 3 tries finally started and was at 62f had to wait maybe 1 minute for it to get back up to 69 for the light to go out. so I call that a cold start. Now hot start is prolly 80% of the time when I stop for a few minutes and go to restart it. It always starts but having to crank it several times is annoying and I feel like a fool needing to do so.

I'm curious how many people just keep cranking or give the starter a break and then keep cranking until it fires. I haven't had one hot start issue where just a crack of the throttle didn't get it fired immediately on the next attempt. Seems to me to be a better method than cranking and cranking. Granted, it shouldn't be required but...whatever works.
I've used all the starting methods. Let pump prime before starting and just turning the key right to start when hot. Either way, I still get the occasional no light off on the first attempt but I don't get it as often as it seems some here do. Crack the throttle just a hair on the next attempt and it always fires up. I probably never let it crank 10 seconds on the initial try. Good chance it might light off if I did, but if it doesn't go after maybe 5 seconds or what it usually does when warm, I just stop and do the throttle trick. It works for me.

I have not done the reflash yet. I may in the off season, but if I know Cat, they could release another more refined one. They have had multiple flashes come out for a model over the life of it in the past. It wouldnt surprise me at all if they did.

We never had the hot start issue where wouldn't start but did notice sometimes it might take a few seconds longer to start. Once we installed the MPI turbos they pretty much fire up instantly every time, hot or cold.

Starter replaced, reflash completed, appears to start much faster now in both cold and hot starts. Had to pay for oil when starter was replaced as I was told Yamaha does not cover cost of oil. Not complaining as it was almost due anyways.

Rode 400 miles over the weekend and no issues with the reflash. Started every time, hot or cold. A little off idle popping, I can live with it. One day I got 16MPG.
