I was out riding my nytro mtx the other day with a fairly big group. I was impressed with its performance on the big climbs as I was out climbing Polaris pro-rmk 800's easily. The problem began when we tried playing around in the trees. I could not get my sled to do what I wanted at all. Old stock mountain cats were turning much better than I was. Now I know it will never respond as well as a pro rmk, but I'm hoping to get it to be as good as an old Arctic cat mountain cat? I have a few mods that I thought would help. Have ZBros ARS FX front a arms, Barkers exhaust, and a monster track (camoplast peak 163x16x2.5). Wondering what others have done to improve handling of the nytro in tight spaces. I also have a 240hp mcexpress turbo that is currently not installed, but I don't think that will help in the tight spots. It has plenty of power so i think a turbo will just be added weight. I am thinking if a light battery as a cheap weight loss, just trying to see what other mods people do to help these sleds perform in tight spaces, thanks.
You really need to look at the Barcode 365 kit! It flat out rocks. I have them on both my nytros. Best mod Ive done to the sleds period. Really make the sled handle like better. I think there kits are on sale right now. Send Allan a PM he's usually pretty good in getting back to you. When I ordered my kits they were shipped out the next day. Great service.

OFT steering relocator will give you more leverage when cranking on the handlebars. Steering is improved especially in tight place. Zbros front end shouldn't be all the bad to warrant changing your front end. What you have is better than stock front end.

I pulled the sway bar out of the front and it made a world of difference! I can control the sled really well and actually like the ride on trails better than before. My biggest problem now is when I stop. It has been mentioned the trenching is a big problem and I've found the same. I'm not in a situation to spend big dollars on an aftermarket skid but I need to do something. I have an extra skid and thought maybe I could bend the rails to get a better approach angle but might be kinda sketchy, any good cheaper aftermarket skids out there? Or is something that to do it you have to go all in? Thanks for the input

How would a skid frame from another brand fit and perform on the nytro? know of lots of 162/163 skids from skidoo's, cats, and some polaris too. How is the approah angle? I think the approach angle is my biggest concern at this time.

Have you adjusted the limiter straps or center shock at all yet? I'd pull the limiter strap up if you want to change the approach angle. I wouldn't mess with another oem skid, ez ryde would my choice for an aftermarket.

Limited straps are right up to help with trenching but really hurts the maneuverability. Yah, wasn't sure about the other brands but can't afford to put too much more into the sled.

Here's a good read on the subject of suspension setup.

Do a search on this forum for the Skinz concept front suspension. Quite a few posts regarding how dramatically it improves nytro handling. On the narrowest spacing you can roll the machine easily.

I have ran AC skids for years in my nypex and on my apex mtn. Currently running a 2010 M8 float skid, way better attack angle and alot lighter too!

First year i had mine i would get stuck on a parking lot, dig a trench every time i started.
I found the best thing to do is keep the clutch engaged,, drive it like a motor cycle blipping the throttle, when slowing down knowing you got to get moving again. It don't pull as hard then when starting off.
Also don't be scared the stand on one side and crank it to get that track up on the snow.

That was a great artical mtblizzard, I learned a lot about my suspension on my nytro. Now I need to see if I can tune my suspension.

I super charged, OFT relocated, did the skinz tunnel mods, put a bark buster on the front, then switched to +3 zbroz, and put a KMOD on the back. The biggest difference I noticed in the trees was the zboz front end. Seems the further you get the skis away from the track, the better the sled handles. That 365 kit would probably be the way to go, but I've never tried it. 2nd biggest change for tree riding was dropping the air pressure in my rear shock on the KMOD suspension and completely decoupling the suspension. I can't remember how the rear of the stock skid is set up but if the tail is softened up it should give similar results That turbo you have will also help. Once the sled is laid over on it's side a 200 hp blip of the throttle will break the track free and allows it to drift around at the same time it "lifts" the front but since you are on your side it just carves a steeper turn and doesn't fall over. Kind of pivots the machine around an axis instead of carving.
