Im taking my skid apart to send in for the beef up kit but I can't get the top idler wheels off the upper suspension arm, how do they come off???

Anyone?? Im sure enough guys have taken these apart... I don't see what is holding them on

I tap them off with a hammer. I am pretty sure it is a interference fit. On reassembly. I've been using antiseize. Makes for a little easier job removing.

I had to use a torch and a hammer on one of the three sleds I did about a week ago. The one with the highest mileage was the worst (8700 mi). The wheel was seized on there, ended up replaceing the wheel. Make sure you use a 1" socket or so to compress it back on.

Thanks guys, I just wanted to make sure there wasnt something I was missing before I hammer the bell out of em, If I gotta get new wheels when Im done I will, just didn't want to ruin them for no reason.. Thanks...

I had the same problem. I tore mine down last week, and posted the same question you did in the "Suspension Section" of the forum.

I released the circlips that hold the bearings in the upper idlers. Then I used my 3-jaw puller to pull each bearing off the cross shaft.

I wasn't concerend about putting the 3-jaw puller on the outer bearing races, becuase I planned on replacing those this off-season anyway.

The fitment of these bearings on the cross shaft is really too tight, if you ask me.

wheel

if your talking about top idle wheels on shaft, get a spare bolt open vise up so shaft fit and wheel against vise and tap on bolt, make sure bolt is tight. very easy.

Got em. It wasn't too bad I just didn't want to pound the hell out of the wheels and then find out there was something I didn't see holding them on. Once I hit em with a little force, they came off, I'll put a little never seize on when I put it back together, hopefully it'll make em easier to get off next time

I've never needed to replace a bearing in these upper wheels, till I got my 07 GT pulled apart. Both were so tight ya couldn't turn um. Then I was amazed, I couldn't buy an American bearing. I could buy an American box with a china bearing, or a napa bearing made in china, or a carquest bearing made in china all with wildly different pricing. The Yamaha bearing was made in romania? go figure? you would think they would run a jap bearing. who knows?
