Or you could just get a revalve. Those DX shocks will not take the big stuff.
Get the dx shocks revalved?

In the summer I'm going to bring the DX shocks and the SE shocks to my shock guy and see if he can make the larger SE shocks perform like the DX shocks. I can see the DX shocks heating up quickly on a blown out trail. The SE shocks are definitely more robust but for the trail riding I do the DX shocks are just fine. The trails never get blown out that bad where the sled would be undrivable. Even now with the lack of snow we have had the trails are at their worse and the DX shocks are performing great.Or you could just get a revalve. Those DX shocks will not take the big stuff.

He's saying get the se shocks revalved. He's right as the se shocks are much larger shock and will perform better in the rough stuff. I guess it depends on your riding style. It was nice to ditch the float 3's for the coil spring front shocks as well,i couldn't seem to get the air shocks to perform the way I wanted. They were always too stiff or they would bottom out depending on the pressure, plus I hated checking them all the time as they would slowly lose air.Get the dx shocks revalved?

Aren't the se models equipped with the floats though?or is there bigger dx spring shocks? I'm a little confused...

Se models have Fox floats up front and larger non air shocks in the rear. The DX models have coils up front and smaller body shocks in the rear. He was saying to revalve the rear se shocks to make it softerAren't the se models equipped with the floats though?or is there bigger dx spring shocks? I'm a little confused...

I didn't like the Float 3s either. If I put enough air to make it not roll in the corners it was way too stiff. My wrists were sore from all the pounding with no shock movement. If I set the air pressure soft then the sled would roll in the corners. I went with Hygear's dual pressure kit. Just like the Fox Evols. Now I get the best of both worlds. Plush suspension on the bumps and no chassis roll in the corners. A great bang for the buck.

I was not impressed with the Float 3's last season. I just picked up a set of Evol X's and hoping they make a significant difference. Haven't had a chance to try them yet.

I think I'll probably just stick with the dx model....I'm looking for that plush ride, if I don't like it I can always upgrade later, they may have more color options to choose from this spring..we'll see what they bring out.
Are spring orders made through the dealer? How much of a deal can I get? How many of you paid full price? If any of you got a deal, how much did you save and how did you go about bargaining? Any tips or tricks?

Why u say renegades no good? Thought they were great with the r motion
Almost got one
2.I rode an X and 2 standard renegades. The X was unridable and no one in the group wanted to be stuck on it. The guy that brought it is a dealer and needed to miles on it cause its a demo and they do not get re-imbursed for them if they fall short of miles. We took everyhting out of the front skid shock and turned down the spring and rebound adjusters to "0" and it was still harsh. one guy in the group goes 285 and with everything full soft we could only get 1" of set in with him on it. I had such bad arm pump I could not hang on in the whoopties. The 2 standards were a bit different but still wanted to step out in the rear through the bad stuff one time in 2' chop at just 40 mph it got so upset it turned sideways on me and almost dumped me. You feel way out over the skis and the pivot point is between your legs and the tail wants to whip on you. On the renegade you are using more of the front suspension on them whereas the Axys is light on the skis and you are riding on the track. The XTX is more balanced between front and rear then either chasis. I think that CAT was so close on this package but just fell short in the valving and feel that if Yamaha would have stuck with the clicker packages they have on the Nytro and Apex these would have been great right out of the box.
I just had lunch today with 3 of the guys from the group. 2 are still sore from the ride and the other spent most of the weekend on my Pro S 800 SB. He was at teh dealership today working on a trade. All of them preferred my viper but the $$$$ to get what I got is out of his budget.

I felt it in my knees the most after 8 hrs on a 12 hr ride. The next day my shoulder was a bit sore but not sure if it was from riding or from getting a buddy un stuck. lol.

Just got back from a 3 day tip where we put on 486 miles. 206 in 1 day.
The only thing that was sore was my back in-between my shoulder blades from the standing position I am constantly in and puling on that 6 inch riser.
Small price to pay for the rest of my body not to be soar
I have to honestly say the Viper is the best sled I have every owned or rode.
You can move into so many different position while riding, it is great. Most of the time I stand, but sit and lean for Hard corners or even put body forward more for more weight on the front, Long straight I can sit with feet and legs forward or feet back with knees bent to just cruise and stretch a bit.... so many options it can fit anybody's riding style.
All 4 of my buddies rode my sled and absolutely loved it compared to Revs, Edges, and RX-1 Infact 1 of them is looking to ditch his RX-1 and scoop a Viper.
Huge improvement over the Nytro and Apex chassis in my opinion... Thanks arctic cat... I hate saying that!!

I was at my buddies on the weekend and he was raised on cat everything...he thinks it's the best for both companies. You get the best chassis and the best engine in one package. You can't go wrong! 20 more days to find out what's next for yamaha!
I'll probly still get a viper though, such a nice sled!

Rode 175 miles on the weekend and felt great other than cold, -30 C. I was surprised at the ride compared to my 12 Nytro XTX, wasn't leaps and bounds better but was better and I loved riding that thing.
Doesn't take much to put my back out. I just did 160km none stop windy trail. No sore back at all. I have the hygear linkage on though.
I did have sore muscles in my face from smiling so much. Haha
I love my sled now that I have the Hygear coupler and Axis shock package all the way around. It now handles like a formula car!!!

Physically beat. Mentally, a good days ride is like hitting the reboot button. The focus required to ride over an extended period of time just makes whatever's troubling you vanish.
