How many have changed gearing on an n/a viper/7000?

Our xf 137" with the same D&D clutching (using the 53 gram big dogs) and just an aftermaket muffler and stock gearing has seen a best speed of 105 in excellent conditions at just a little over 9000 RPM. Typically it just squeaks past 100 in great conditions.

Are you using the 51 or 53 gram weights? I'm sure the 53 gram weights would've got it into 3 digits as it was on the rev limiter hard above 95.

That's good to know, I'm getting new take off gears and chain from an 1100 turbo, there's a big abundance of them. Time will tell on the outcome.
Are the 1100 turbo gears and chain combo a direct swap on the 7000's? I saw the 7000 gears are 13 wide and the 1100's are 15 wide

I actually ended up getting yammi xtx gears and chain, and then a viper turbo buddy called me last weekend in a pinch and needed the gearing so I sold it to him, gonna try heavier weights in the 7000 first and then decide if I still wanna do the gearing, it's breaking in more and more so heavier weights may get it to 3 digits.

Got the sled back from the dealer today, not exactly sure what they did to the primary clutch but whatever it was it worked. went to a fresh plowed gravel road, it was all snow covered. Last year at the end of the season in these conditions the sled would've ran 85-86, first pass I was on and off the throttle the whole way but could tell the clutching was smoother and not so wound up running crazy high rpm when just cruising. The next 3 full pulls it ran 98mph, last pull ran 99, rev limiter starts to creep in at 92-93, at 96 it's steady rev limiter, just creeps up a few more notches. At 98 mph it's pinging hard so looking like that's all the stock 21/49 gearing will do. So whatever was going on with the primary was throwing it off close to 15 mph. Hoping to get a little heavier weights just to see if there's any left in the stock gearing, not sure if I'll try that or not, then I'll try the gearing. In case I didn't mention earlier, sled is an xf7000, 137" track with 144 studs, 250 pound rider (me). Very happy to see a simple solution can make such a big difference!
Would your sled hit the rev limiter before they worked on your primary? I'm only seeing around 8000 rpm so far. I have under 200 miles on the sled.

Oh, so the Yamaha gears will fit? I called my cat dealer last week and he had no idea what gears I could use....

Awesome. Thanks for the quick response!

The XF sno-pro, the Viper and the 7000 all have the same chaincase design. The Viper uses Yamaha Hyvo chain and gears, while all the Cats have Cat gears and chain. The good is you can use either/or Cat or Yamaha, but you must have the right chain to the right gears. Example: I have the Viper and running Cat 22/40 gearing with a Cat chain. The splines all match up so swapping gearing between them is simple now that I figured it out. All of the pro-chassis use a Cat chain and gears for the reverse...FYI.

Also....TA Motorsports (Vendor/advertisor on TY) has a Cat 21/41 gearset for sale for $50. No chain tho, so you would need a Cat chain for this set which is like $50-$75.
