05 vector.3,500 miles.

-replaced bearings in the marginal snow wheels
-replaced plugs once, just to see how to do it
-did the recall things on the clutch rattle
-hyfax
-that's about it... Love this sled. MM.
Just bought the grandson a 05 Vector with 5,000 miles in great shape. The previous owner said it had no problems. This thing rattles at idle and the owner said it did it since new.I thought it was the gear reduction but I see you say about a [clutch rattle recall] have you any info on this???Thanks in advance. ;)!

There is no gear reduction on 120 Genises engine. The rattle is normal and a non issue....other than an anoyance.

There is a shim kit to help reduce the rattle, but some have reported that it came back after a while anyways.

I don't sit around idleing very long.....so it doesnt bother me.

If you noticed mine is the 120. And I've had it done for 3,000 miles now... Has not come back... To me it was well worth taking it in.. MM.

I was specifically replying to cat hunter's post about the 120's not having a gear reduction. But yes, some have indeed had good luck with the shim kit (yourself included).....unfortunately others' have reported the rattle came back. I just didn't want him to think putting it in was a 100% guaranteed fix.

Trust me, It took a lot for me to take my baby into a dealer for anything........ But it worked out good so far. MM.

06 vector gt 2500 replace idler wheels by dealer& speedo bearing 1 windshield 2 mirrors 2 dashes. got to stop trying to keep up with 1cs. :o| :o| :o|

05 Vector ER replaced inner idler wheels due to shot bearings, changed out original carbides, 3rd set of hyfax(wanted blue 2 previous pairs not really worn out either) multiple belts, most of them my fault with parking brake and not clearing ice. 3700+ miles not a hiccup on the motor. Added nytro springs rear and center to suspension to aid with the dampening. Other than that the sled has been great. Still running the original battery and never put a charge on it. It still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

05 Rage 9700 miles as of last week. No major issues...

@ 6000 miles:
Re-bushed front and rear suspensions completley, had Pioneer re-valve and re-build three of the shocks and replaced the OEM rear with an Ohlins.

@ 9000 miles:
Replaced Rollers and Weights in primary clutch due to a "divot" in the center of the weight from rollers. I attribute this to running about the same speed most times. Also the weight/roller bushings were shot.

I removed cleaned and repacked all driveline bearings (Clutch side jackshaft, speedo and all idlers). ALL bearings and wheels are original.

Looking forward to AT LEAST another 10,000 miles on this sled! ;)!

There have been some cosmetic/ergonomic changes due to personal preference.

Mountain Performance Tunnel Extension
Nytro Seat
Apex Hooked Bars
Power Madd pivot adaptor and 6" riser

05 Vector - 3657 miles; not a single thing and I mean NOTHING (outside of an intense thorough spring time maintenance procedure and the clutch kit when it was new)

Two cracked oil tanks on my 2006 Nytro (Same set-up as Vector) with less than 3000 miles on sled. (see my post on Nytro section). Please post if you have had this happen, as Yamaha is saying they are not going to cover the repair this time. The first tank was replaced under warranty.

3500 miles, my son now beats on it. Yellow rear idlers. That's about it. But it gets greased and checked after every ride, which is around 200 miles or so. Needle grease the wheel bearings. Even the inner wheels look perfect..originals. But it still has that 35+ mph harmonic.
Pic was on our 1100 foot grass drag strip Nov...1st slide lubin' snow...he mustave put 100 miles on in the fields before any real snow.

1150 miles on my 06 RS Rage, my clutch has been updated and rattles again but you won't hear it rattle or the even the sled running if there is a 2stroke running within 50 ft. lol
:4STroke:

3033 miles on a 2006 Vector GT, most of it on less than ideal Western New York Snow. Only failure ... upper/outer chain case bearing (right behind the brake rotor). When Yamaha says replace the collar and seal when replacing the bearing they mean it. Gear lube on a hot brake rotor is a smell you'll never forget. All other repairs were rider inflicted and not the poor sled's fault.
