How many wheels(Apex)?

I have an '06 Apex ER. While greasing and checking the sled over...I noticed only three wheels in the very rear of the track. The two outside bogey wheels are there but only one of the inner wheels(on the brake handle side). Shouldnt there be a total of 4 that run across the rear of the track? If so...could one of those inner wheels break apart and be totally gone? I included a pic below.

Stock comes with 3 wheels only. You can by an upgrade "4th wheel kit" in accessory catalog.

You only need the 4th wheel kit if you are running studs. if you have studs and are not running this you will pull to one side as you do not have central suppport all the way across. You donot need this if you are not running studs. This can cause your track to go out of alignment and cause wear issues if youare running studs. By adding the 4th wheel kit you can also run your track looser. If anyone is interested we have 4th wheel kits available. Yamaha does not put the 4th wheel on as they do not promote using studs.

mchimera, if a wheel mysteriously went missing you'de know about it! Stock has 3 wheels. I purchased the 4th wheel kit from Fix a couple of weeks ago and it makes a world of difference in straight line tracking during my holeshots. I think I would get them even if unstudded. When our sleds hook up they torque to one side and pull. This definetly wreaks havoc on the inner idlers as well.

Well thats good to know! Thanks for the replies fellas. I am studded(144). Now when I think of it...she seems to track(not bad though) to one side while "launching" out of the hole. It just seemed odd when I counted 3 wheels in the rear...looks like a 4th wheel should be there. I may add that 4th wheel kit you guys mentioned. I always wondered what the heck the 4th wheel kit was..lol. Now I know. Thanks again guys!

Ive run 4 wheel rear axles for just about every sled ive ever owned since early 90s....definitely can run track looser with less track clip scaling the sides of sliders in cornering on trails...

helps top end too IMO.

there is a write up in the tech section on how to make your rear axel a 4th whhel kit with only needing the wheel. It is easy to do and saves you around 20 bucks Maxdlx
