I noticed a clunk when taking off and rolling up to a stop a double clunk from time to time if I was coasting to a stop and feathered the brake a couple of times the last ride. The machine has always had a little clunk when the primary grabs but now I am paranoid something is different. If I take the secondary and turn clockwise then counterclockwise how much rotation should be there from seeing the track go forward or reverse? The machine has reverse, in case that makes a difference in slop. My chain tension adjuster lock nut seems to be tight so I don't think that moved. Is the proper setting on it finger tight then lock it down?
Thanks for any help. I just don't want to break down next trip and I do not want to rip the chain case apart for nothing. All bearings were done last season and everything looks normal in that area.
it is normal to have the secondary move back and forth like that, moreso with reverse. as for chain tension, loosen locknut, tighten finger tight, back it out one quarter turn and tighten lock nut.
