Would love to see someone post how to do this.
To adjust the chain, I have read the pipe needs to come off. Actually, I am sure of this. Some say it can be done thru the right footwell after removing. I see rivets holding the upper end of this footwell.

Took the footwell out, no way to get even close.
Actuator - turn insides ccw and set actuator in at 1 o clock and turn towards 12 ( a bit of preload ) till screw holes line up.
Lots of info. on the chaincase.
Did mine today.

I just came in from the garage and you ABSOLUTELY MUST remove the muffler. Very easy to do. Things to check/pointers while you have it out.
1. Check ALL adjustable hose clamps. I found several oil lines where the clamps were VERY loose.
2. Check your flange where the exhaust pipe bolts to the muffler. I found I had only 3 of the 4 bolts in mine so I added one upon reassembly.
3. When removing the pyrometer, disconnect it by the wire plug, DO NOT unbolt it from the pipe.
4. Once the muffler is off it is VERY easy to adjust chain tension. Standard procedure like any sled from the last 20 years+
5. When you have it off have a "third hand tool" and use it to hold the one and only muffler spring in place making it much easier to grab the spring with the spring tool upon reassembly.
Not a big job at all

Could you get at it with a aftermarket muffler?

Doing mine as I write this. Took out footwell...aint happening.
Took out pipe. As you said...easy. Found my tension 5 turns from finger tight. Seems a lot? My gasket was salvaged but I only have a 100 miles on it.
Inspected every hose clamp and found every one to be 1.5 - 2 turns from tight using a 1/4" ratchet and guessing about 8 lbs of torqe. Not sure they would have leaked. Polaris sleds run a spring clamp.
Found oil filter. Aint no way im paying someone to do this. Take out four screws, pull a cover plate and its right there.
First long track. I need a new lift as mine would not lift this thing up but would raise the front.
Want to crank up the limiter strap one notch. That don't look like no fun as the adjustment is at the top. Yay.
Need to figure out how to get the belt out someday. I read theres a trick. I yanked, pushed and pretty much molested my secondary and could not get that thing to move.
Cheers.
