I looked in the "Frequently asked questions" section but noticed no posts on this.
How in the heck do you remove the spark plug boots. I could pull harder but I afraid of breaking the plastic caps in half.

did you unbolt them first? (had to ask) try a small flat blade screwdriver and work it up while twisting them. make sure you use some dielectric grease when you reinstall

Just disconnect the wire harness, remove the bolt then twist the boot back and forth while pulling up and it will come right off.

I ran into the problem of not being able to get the boots out. Could not find much information on how people removed them. I ended up using a 1" wrench and put the open end of the wrench under the tabs and used it and my free hand to pry them up and out.
Unbolt, twist boot and pull straight.

May help to run the sled sans headlight bracket for a few minutes, if you can. Generally, twisting and pulling and careful prying will release them. Dielectric grease will help make it easier the next time you have to change them (usually after you've flooded it while trying to start it with a bad stator and/or pickup).

I had to twist mine back and forth many, many times, then while twisting pull up at the same time and they'll come up real slowly.
