240hp What is the most dependable turn key out there.
And if I want to go 300hp, who has the most dependable kit and what engine mods should I expect have to do?
My clutched apex will pull my buddies 200 hp cat in the powder, but when we line up on the ice he pulls me. That thing is a low end grunt that's for sure.
Thanks, Brent

Just my opinion - Supercharged Stage 1 with head shim, turn key and go...just add gas...lots of it.
Mine has been reliable since we got it set up properly. Haven't touched it after 2 seasons on boost about 2200 miles or so. I bang iowa ditches, tight WI trails, long railroad beds with lots WOT in the UP, just been turn key, even the battery has been flawless. I literally do nothing but change oil, occasionaly the sled will fire up in the morning and the idle will bounce a bit just a quick controller adjustment at idle and it will smooth right out.
I did have a vacumn leak that took some tracking down it was a hose on my FPR with a pin hole in a place there should never have been a pin hole, that only effected the idle.
I did change the Sc belts just cause, kept the old ones for spares now, they all look like new. I'm still one the original drive belt once the clutching was figured out. Ulmer is your friend on this he got me so close even I could dial in the last bit of perfection.
I was skeptical and leary going into a SC sled but compared to your bender turbo you will love the ease of SC, who cares about the 30hp you give up to a turbo when you NEVER have to mess with it!
Forget anything higher then 240hp with this set up, your talking stage 2 blower lots of money. Its just not possible. If you want 300hp your better off going turbo, but thats just a number the 240hp is fun and only extreme mod sleds will give you fits.

if all your doing is straight racing, lower 200's are rock solid reliable. mountain riding is hell on sleds. im a turbo guy, so im not huge into the super game, but i will say, even some of the new 180 kits you can get on the yamis are rather impressive. 240 is a LOT of power, and for some reason, turbo yami's seem to be more impressive then equally powered NA or 2 stroke sleds, they just get around VERY well.

My first reaction is, you have a very solid source of knowledge in your signature, with solid experience in both Super and Turbo, don't forget to check with him .
I have little experience with Super, but in my opinion the best choise for you is your kind of driving.
For short bursts i would choose a Super, they get off the line quicker, if you don't fiddle with a launch control on the Turbo anyway.
I love my Turbo, it is as reliable as a stocker, never had a problem, and it runs quite well .
For my kind of driving it suits me better then a Super, i get very good milage if i need to, poor if i want to have really fun .

Thanks everyone. I am sure something will be under my hood by snow..
I think 200-240 hp range sound like a safe trail friendly system.
Thanks, Brent

a good setup from ulmer would be a blast on the trails. I dont know exactly the riding you do, but the turbos arent going to be the instant of the super, but man they pull and pull hard. if you stay out of them the turbos are definately better on gas then the super's, but thats something you have to consider as well if your already burning full tanks during the day

I ride ditches, aggressive on and off the gas. When conditions are right, 3-4' of powder with drifts reaching 10-12' tall, launching 20' in the air....mmmmm is it snowing yet?
Trail ride 8-10hrs a day groomed trails. West mountain riding will be in my near future as well.
I want it turn key, but I am not afraid of tuning as needed.
I know I want at least 200 hp, with the potential to go big hp to stop the crap out of my buddies turbo cat.

The MPI is a fantastic trail sled setup stage 1 is awesome, fuel economy is ok with it as well. I think the new bleed off systems etc are even better now for fuel economy.
I spent last winter on my first good working turbo sled as well. I had a PL front mount apex that was not a performer. I did a 1200 renegade up with an FPP kit and it was killer, Justin really has an awesome setup there and it worked flawless just bolt togeather and ride. Fuel economy was also within 4 liters of dads 800 etec at each fill!

Yep no problems I freely let people ride it. Its too special of a sled to hog to myself. Usually it just spoils them and thier bank accounts the next year LOL
