Hurricane 190 HP Review

how much was kit and how much extra for intercooler

Current price for the kit is $ 3,495 USD . Intercooler is $ 1,200 or aprox. $ 700. as an upgrade to the kit. Prices are listed on the web site.

I installed this kit on the Viper yesterday.
Took me about 5 hours at slow speed.
It starts and runs nicer than, I have ever seen!
I do not notice it been any loader than stock.
Over all, I am very impressed with the kit!
now to try it out a little more today!
I forgot to mention, I went with the Ulmer clutch kit.

Glad to hear it! Let us know how it performs, top speed, fuel mileage etc.

I will post at a later date. Work calls me now.
As for what I have seen for today , is as much as you push on the trigger it pulls like hell!
Top speed I will post later and fuel mileage.
I am running the ltx viper.

with the helix setting that hurricanr does, how can you run less wind ? i was very confused on that setting, basicly a push straight in practicly with no twist. it works ya just doesnt seem right. with a bit of twist its right off rev limiter

You must twist that helix to get proper spring tension--not pushing strait down. I am seeing the same as you, hitting the limiter. I went to 0-1 wind and it was better but still does it. I installed a Dalton red spring last night at 6-1 twist but have not yet ridden it.

dave told me to set it in by going straight in, it works but im sure a guys loosing back shift. as in no twist, said if i twisted i got it wrong, well i tried anyway and always over revved. i geared it up and put on a bigger track this year. but still rev limiter out of hole

So I'm thinking that this would be the best place to talk about and get some more opinions on my 15 viper lts se hurricane 190 with ulmer clutching. The sled is way more fun than stock, but not as much as I was hoping. For a sled that is supposed to have around 19o hp, I'm just not feeling it. I'm sure if the mpi kit would've been the better route b/c I have been reading all afternoon about how they hold wheelies and whoop on turbo cats, but I know I want my sled to be better. So there's a few things I need some opinions on. I believed that my clutching is correct running the pink green pink from ulmers and red in the secondary set at 6-2 because I pulls 8800-9000 rpms on wot, and will touch the rev limiter on in some very specific conditions, but I have only seen 103-105 max, and it engages very low, like 2800 rpms low. It even stalls out if im running in deep snow at low rpms and won't pulls wheelies at all. I can feel the front end get light but definitely no ski lift. Front shocks set at 70 lbs and middle shock spring adjusted all the way out. Also running osp adjuster with 8dn. I have not lined up against my old apex but riding one after the other I'm almost positive my apex will get it with a clutch kit, exhaust, air box mod, pcV, lower gearing, etc. Is this just the nature of this kit or can I get it better? Different weight transfer? I am getting frustrated tinkering with this sled, and even more frustrated when a buddies 08 apex passed my last week. Thanks for reading this looong post and any help is greatly appreciated.

I have better luck with the 8JP belt, the 8 DN was slipping in my application. I also found that the Dalton red secondary spring made for soft throttle response midrange. I went back to the purple spring at 1-0 twist. This motor likes to loaded hard, not just spun to a certain RPM. I went to a Super Torquer Draggin, fly weight..I have had good luck with them in multiple applications. I am still fine tuning but have ridden my current set up for the last 800miles.
Orange EPI primary spring (150-380)
Draggin fly DF 70's with 2.2 grams in the heel, 1.5 grams in the tip and 1 bolt 3 washers in the tail--76.0 grams
Purple secondary spring at 1-0 twist--NOT pushed strait down.
51-43 helix
I may add a half gram to the heel and tip......

Tighten up your centre spring and pull out the rear coupling blocks if you want it to transfer. The Ltx's don't transfer very well but this helps.

none of the 190 kits on the viper are going to out run an apex. they just don't have the legs. there is a lot of power taken up in the rear skid. the ltx does not pull the skis. mine with limiter blocks out picks the skis 4 inches thats it. but it rips on the trails. the xtx is what everyone has that is doing wheelies.

My old man has an apex and my viper at 5 pounds will walk circles around it at any speed, one thing I've noticed with certain secondary springs is that the tighter wrap can really hurt speed, I've found the stock secondary spring works awesome. Mpi vs hurricane it shouldn't make much if any difference, they're all gonna be in the 180-190 hp range. My setup is orange pink orange primary spring with D&D magnaforce weights and a totally stock secondary, no clutch machining, and it'll shift out stock gearing in 800-900 feet at 109 mph..so there should be no reason to for any turbo to run that or darn close to it. Those runs were with both the 8jp and 8dn, my sled reacted better to the 8jp but I blew that belt very bad so just went with 8dn

my apex with an intake, full exhaust, clutch kit, pcv, and overdrive scheves did 122 on gps. was over 11o in 1200 ft or so. yes the viper is quick, but with my experiences the apex is faster. my viper will walk all over my dads apex but across a lake i think i will see him pass me.

thanks for the info guys, sounds like I'm not the only one having trouble with apexes. For the guys that have taken the transfer blocks out are you seeing a lot of wear because of steel on steel or do you pull that whole crossmember out?
