Yep we all know that they wear out too fast. Mine are shot at 900 miles. This is further than other folks I know of. We had no dry running or ice packed trails so this had to help.
Now what I noticed is that the left hyfax wore much more than the right and in both cases just in front of and under the 2 front boggy wheels. My sled has the stock wheels all around and I run the track with 1" of slack hanging free and always check the alignment regularly. My thought is that with only 3 idler wheels at the rear that the track is running aligned but the tension is different side to side. I have now added the 4th rear idler, which should help keep the tension more even. I may be way off with my thinking. Glad to hear other opinions.

I think you are running your track wayyy to tight. With the extrovert drivers, you can have 1 1/2-2" free sag.
I run 2" free sag on my Vector & 1 1/2" on my Apex.
I have just a tick over 1,500 miles on my '10 LTX-GT, and the hyfax are easily 75% yet. This is all southern WI riding, which isn't always the best (thin trails with sand, dirt, gravel, corn stubble, etc poking thru all over)
As far as the one side wearing faster, I don't have any real answer. Do you favor more weight to the left maybe? I know heavier riders will wear the back of the rails faster than a lighter rider, same principle should apply if you favor leaning to one side more than the other, & not sitting perfectly straight on the seat all the time.

How is your trail system ,usually the center of the road is down to the dirt. That may be why the left side has more wear.
Also We, seem to think that the slides wear to a point and after that they are good to go. We run ours for years and have never had on run through.
Do you jump off the trail and run the" fluff" at all.
That may help,
We run alot of high speed on all kinds of conditions, I have about 2000 miles on mine.
I just measured mine, I thought I had it loose enough but now after seeing this post, I am going to give it some more.

OK, I know mine is an 08 (Vector LTX GT), but I just wanted to throw my slide wear in the mix.
I changed mine out at 300 mines the first time, My fault, I melted them. The next time I changed my slides, I had 4165 miles, and I really do believe I could have made it another year. I now have 5400+ and this set of slides like really really good. As others have said, I ran my track with alot sag, cant remember what I measured, but it was at least 1 1/2 inches. I have added the Yamaha low snow wheels back at the 300 mile mark, the rest of my wheels are stock Yamaha wheels.
Also, just wanted to mention, there is a tread about new slides that are suppose to last a long long time.
