So i guess that would be 5 5/8" ,an extra 1/16" clearance.
I took a wheel off the sled and took it with me and they measured it and asked them to give me 1/8” larger diameter and I don’t recall actual size that was back in 2006 a long time ago.. After installing I think four or six oversize and small wheel kit from Yamaha that sled would ride on pure ice and not wear hyfax.. You still need lube for the cooling of the motor no matter so you got to keep a eye on that….

The OEM wheels on a Procross chassis are 5.63" already. So i guess that would be 5 5/8" ,an extra 1/16" clearance.

There are some BRP wheels that are 147mm (5.79") that come with the 6004 bearing (same as the stock wheels). These would be 0.16" larger OD than the 5.63" stock wheels. BRP part #503191311I think if we can find a 5.75-5.8" wheel to replace the 5.5" ones before the bend it would work
Not sure if those would work or if the OD would be too large and put too much pressure on the mounts

Would you guys suggest replacing ALL of the small idler wheels with larger wheels (is that 100% necessary)? I also get heavy hyfax wear right at the bend in the rail and also right in front of the rear wheels. I added a set of idler wheels in front of the rear wheels but I still get extra wear there. Wondering if I should just do the front outer 2 and the extra 2 that I added at the rear. The hyfax seems to wear less in the middle of the skid. This is on a 2017 LTX SE 137.

What I did was take the suspension out of the sled and sat it on flat table so I could see the hy-fax above the flat surface.. It was pretty close and found a Ski-doo wheel that when install raised it 125 thousands or 1/8”. Yes I replaced all the smaller wheels.. Upper suspension and rear wheels were fine and used as they were.. These wheels were a touch ( 10 thousands ) wider than the ones I was replacing. The design was different but the results were on point . Iam sure if I do this on a winder I would look for something oversized and turn down on bench top lath to get exact size I was after. All you need is a good set of dial calipers and machine shop..Would you guys suggest replacing ALL of the small idler wheels with larger wheels (is that 100% necessary)? I understand doing this on an older sled like an Apex. I have used the larger Excel X-wheels on a number of those. I was asking specifically about the Sidewinder (Procross) which is a completely different skid. I understand that some of your points are still valid but this whole thread is about Procross skid. What I did was take the suspension out of the sled and sat it on flat table so I could see the hy-fax above the flat surface.. Well your right its about a pro cross chassis. Ok let me explain this and its same for all chassis. Take a new sled measure a new wheel , then measure a wheel off a five thousand mile used sled. As that wheel wears down it gets smaller, now as it gets smaller it wears out your hy-fax faster even if given the same running conditions.. By increase the size of the wheel it still wears down but it wears down to the size of new and gives you more height to fight the wearing of hy-fax.. As it wears there is less load on the bearings and blends in with hy-fax that will increase efficiency., mileage, and less wear in low snow conditions. What you spend on wheels will save you money on improved fuel mileage, improved Hy-Fax wear, more efficient…
