I need help to build a Cains Quest worthy Nitro

What am I thinking??? BRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Corins

You could have lied about the temps. I love riding but I not such a fan of being really cold. One of our sponsers from Piston Bully is up in Lab. city this week gathering up some information for us on transportation/accomodation. I understand that the 500+km road up from Sept. Illes is quite the hazard (voided auto insurance) and the trek should be made by Rail. Myles Obrian has also been a wealth of knowledge but was a little more forgiving on the temps. Any way the other rider is on a 07 attack currently 136 but Myles recomended 144x1.75" for this run. I was considering running a 06 venture as wind protection/144 was already standard equip. but I think a race bred rtx may be a better for the terrain and some of its surprises. I would like any input you may be able to provide being local to the challange. Have you entered in the past?

P.B.

The road isn't as bad as it is made out to be in my opinion, I've driven that road numerious times and have never had an issue. A lot of people have trouble because they don't drive to the conditions of the road, last March I drove that road (snow covered, 2 days after a big snowfall) I made the trip (I believe it comes to around 560km) in less then 7 hours.

As for the temps, the ones I posted earlier are more common in January, and less frequently in Febuary, rarely do we get it that cold in March, but I threw it out as it is a possibility. Normally by March the snow is very slowly starting to melt and -20c is probably on the colder end of things. But like I say it is a possibility to have colder. With a little bit of wind it is cold, and white out conditions are regular.

As for the race itself I haven't entered, though I have a buddy that has, he ran it on a 03 Venture RS (not 100% sure on year but I believe it is 03), him and his partner didn't finish as they ran into some mechanical trouble on the return half of the trip. One thing you really want to be prepared for is hard conditions, I'm not sure if they did it this year or not but last years race they plotted the course during the summer months from a helicopter, making for some interesting areas to get into.

The only chopper plotting was done during December 2006 and there was plenty of snow to represent approximate cover, slopes and open water sections. The area that was surveyed to be the course was actually a little easier than the shortcut that was opened up by Myles O'Brien and company into the Southern midpoint of Seal L.

Most of this course is the same as was used by the Blake Family for trapping many moons ago.
