I have a 2011 xtx did that my first ride of 200 miles. I Was woooped. So a buddy of mine told me to shim stock skies by placeing a 1/4 inch block of wood that is cut too size to fit under rear of rubber ski pad. Wow night and day and oh so happy cheap fix . Running stud boy deuces and studs. Will upgrade wood to plastic when snow melts

raginyamaha said:x2, kindve hard to get the best of both worlds, i had c+a skis and found the steering to heavy. Switched to curves and steering is much better with just a slight loss of conering bite. C+a is just a really aggressive ski and hence will steer hard when trails are set up.bottlerocket said:Many post on this but you need a stiffer center spring in a nut shell!
Do you have any regrets at all for trading your C&A to Curves? I am seriously considering putting an order in for Curves. I could get custom snow tracker for my C&A that would solve the darting issue that I have but it won’t make my steering feel any lighter.

First I want to say thanks to you to all of you guys for your inputs and advices. I just want to keep up with this tread and give you some of my result. First, I have tried some of your recommendations, more pressure on the centre shock, drop my float to 65lbs, front limiter strap fully extended. With that set up, my front end was still very heavy to steer, + it got scary has my ski push in corners. I actually did missed 2 corners. So, I kept on doing some research on this site, looking at new ski option. When I look at Revster set up. I saw that he is running 120lbs without sway bar. That got my attention. So yesterday, I decided to give it a try in ordered to get my ski to rail corners again. So I pumped up my float to 100lbs event if that meant that I would have to wrestle my handle bar to turn. To my surprise, as soon as I left my house I notice that my handle bar never did feel so light since that I installed my C&A. It is not ski doo light but it is very good and great progress. I could easily turn my ski, I just can`t believes it and sure can`t understand why but it works. for once I could keep up to my buds without getting fatigue and tired. I am in Ottawa this week, but this weekend on my next ride; I will go up to 120lbs and see what happens. I have also decided to shim the back of my ski. I will also be working with my alignment to see if I can diminish the darting. I am keeping my C&A. I was questioning myself about those skis, why would pro race them if they are so hard to turn? That shows me that I still have a lot to learn on sled suspension set up. I can easily set up a sports quad, mountain bike suspension! but a sled, this prove to be a new challenge for me.

For the rear suspension, I install 2 stiffer springs from Yamaha, add a lot of preload on the center shock and firm-up both shock compression damping. (Since I have got this sled, I often used to bottom up the rear suspension). Next year, I am looking getting my rear shock revalve by star suspension or hygear like you have done. Elka is also back in the snow mobile game, I want to see if they will come up with a rear shock. I have not disconnected the sway bar yet, but I moved the link in the a-arm forward position last weekend. I increase air pressure at 120lbs and added more rebound damping to see how it would handle. I think that the sway bar might come off as I have turn my sled on its side more then once when side hilling. I will just disconnect them at first to see how it goes and see if I like it when riding trail + I am looking at the skinz front end for next year but I am not sure if I can keep my float X with those a-arms.
Have a good ride and let me know how you’re set up end up working for you.

I ride with lots of Yamahas and with the C&A mountain ski turning on trail was a workout and once under the powder they would submarine and pull the sled over. The most experienced guy I know told me to try Simmons Generation 1 flex skis. I bought the skis and went for a day trip. Wow the difference was unbelievable. It was easy to turn on the trail and had great floatation in the powder. Front shocks @ 60psi and no darting on packed trail. Not to take anything away fro the C&A skis but honestly they were like sheets of plywood compared to the Simmons ski.
