Okay. I finally got the wife to leave Polaris and I baught her a 2006 Vector GT. We now have a Yamaha family started. lol ( RTX & Vector )
Anyway, What are some of the speeds you guys are seeing from this sled. Any magor issues I should know about? I realize it is sort of the sled as my RTX, but I still would like to hear about some stories.
Any help would be good.

my wife has an 05 vector er and that sled rocks.... i have seen the dream meter at over 100 on icy roads..... it really does well up to 90....
it is a great riding sled, and the gt has the mono skid in it should handle the trails nice.....
good choice, my wife loves hers, and i have rode it this year, i sold my viper, she was preggy so no sense in letting it sit around, an 07 attak is on order for me....

Thanks for the replies. She's excited. I let her drive my RTX, she liked it, but she says it is to much. Now she's talking crap she's going to beat my RTX. I told her to put the pipe down. lmao. I'm happy to see her excited and off of that '01 Polaris. That Vector actually looks cool. Black and chrome. I'll post picks this weekend. Going to get it tomorrow. And to think I walked in there to get my transfer rod replaced and walked out with another sled. Oh-well. Now we have maintance free sleds.

Vector GT...VERY cool sled! 100 mph is about it. The guy who said his will go 116 is either smoking something, the sled is geared for top end, or the speedo pickup or something is defective. Most will tell you 100-105 on the dream meter is about it.
IMO...get her a taller windshield right away (the Venture windshield works OK). The stock one looks cool but she'll get cold right away. The "touring kit" are flares that mount to the side of the sled. Helps direct air away from the rider. Her Polaris was a warm riding sled...the Vectors are COLD..much colder than the Poo, so if she tends to get cold, IMO get this stuff put on ASAP.
The front shocks have both comp and rebound adjustments....I would start with the compression at full soft, and the rebound in the middle. Stock Yami gas shocks are known to be valved way too stiff (Mr. Tfin disagrees tho'). Until you get the front shocks set right, it's likely she'll say the front rides too stiff.
Unless she's coming off of an M-10, she'll like the Monoshock. Proper dealer setup for her weight (or anybodys) is essential. If she's a...AHEM..a BIG girl (trying to say it nicely) she might need the heavier mono spring...most guys over 220# seem to go to the heavy spring.
Turn the key..let the light go out and GO!!!!!!!!!!

Undecided I'm not smoking anything.I was too when it was bone stock no studs.IU don't think that comment was called for.The vector will actually gain mpg gearing them down and the stock clutching bind's so it won't shift all the way out.

alright sorry. There was a pole on here what people where seeing for speeds.
I forgot I had a low winshield and energy release. Most of these speeds where all on hard pack crusty snow.

Is the GT windshield lower than the Vector ER? My Vector is a very warm sled to ride with good wind deflection. I wouldn't want the lower windshield although it looks cool. My suspension is very cushy to me, but your 06 GT has the Mono so I can't comment. I've seen 105 on good days, but it gets there in a hurry.
Do yourselves a favor though, and you and your wife ride the thing and give us your feedback on how you like it before changine anything. Bet she'll love it.

I believe ya pro, I can see teens with mine on the road any day of the week. And have seen 121 on a hard pack crust on a 6 mile lake. It's not stock anymore but pretty minor mods such as a clutch kit and flo commanders. Your wife will love the GT!

Yeah, I'm not changing a thing, just yet. She got the usual chick stuff, touting bags, mirrors that I'll put on Saturday. She likes the stick windshield. It seems to look okay to me. She weighs in about 140lbs, so I won't need to change anything there. The dealer actually set it to her weight for me. Off course on the trail I'll adjust to her complaints. I'll post the pics this Saturday after I have all her stuff on it.
Thanks again for the input from everyone.

If your going to be on the lake adjust the rear skid to full transfer it seem's like it takes alot of front end drag off. That could be worth some speed.

Thank you....and yes I do....IMO the front shocks ride superbly. In fact they were the only part of the suspension set up I left in the stock position. But as I always say, to each his own.
I also find my 05 Vector very warm to ride, even in below zero temps. But as someone else eluded to, maybe the 06 has a shorter stock wind screen.
I'm sure you're wife will love her sled!

You're on the Yamaha "Internet Promotion Team" payroll. Is there ANYTHING that isn't the best thing since sliced bread on your Vector? Or is it absolutely PERFECT?
