I have a 2003 RX1 with a 2" lug 136" track. It has 12,500 miles, apex seat mod, 2" riser, complete rebuilt skid, new front end bushings and air box mod. All of these were done either last year or this year. The sled is prety much mint and I love it.
Now this is where my delema comes in. I may have the chance to trade it for a 2006 apex mountain 162. It is completely stock. The guy doesn't know if he wants to get rid of it or not, so the deal may not even pan out. The apex was involved in a crash and has some damage. I haven't seen it but the guy says that the streering is bent, the right side a arms and spindle are damaged, the dash plastic is damaged and the widsheild is busted. Like i said I haven't seen the sled yet so there may be more damage. I am thinking about getting it and rebuilding it. Even if the bulkhead need replacing that is not a big deal. I know exactly what is involved in it. Last year I bought a rolled 06 attack and fixed it. I had to replace the mid bulkhead, left bulk head, left a arms and a few other peices. It was completly stripped down to just the tunnel. It realy wasn't that hard and it was all new to me so this one would be easier now that I am farmiliar with the yamaha sleds.
I don't know anything about the mountain sleds and wonder how it would preform compaired to the RX1 and attack. Other than the obvious of the track length and the narrower ski stance what woud be different about it. How much narrower is it compaired to the regular apex and how would that effect it's preformance on lakes and trails. I ride about 50/50 lake/trail and wonder how it would preform on the trails

My 08mtx is a work out on the trails in the UP, but get it off trail it will go anywhere you like. They will overheat if you dont fine away to keep snow on the.(Add vents, something to kick up snow it will be fine) On trail its going to fight with you, but you learn fast how to ride it.

Been thinking real hard about this and might just pass it up. I just did all that work to my rx1 and finally got it to where I want it. It's comfortable and fun and mint now. Just rebuilt the wifes attack last year from the ground up also (bought it rolled and fixed it). Think I just might enjoy sledding this year and do another project later.
Thanks to all that replied.
