I'm tired of water/ice dripping on the running boards from the front hole. I'm not going to close it but I have 2 options:

1. Silicon the rubber shirt to the tunnel
2. Remove the rubber and bolt on some aluminum angle to the tunnel

I tried the silicon before with limited results. Maybe its time to do the angle iron similar to these. Yamaha used to sell tunnel panels but I can't find them anymore (except for huge $ on eBay).

What does everyone else do? I know the newer models have a plastic panel that covers it better.

Hey Cubby. I've tried the panels on my 07. They didn't work well as the belt box in the rear collected all the ice after.
I still have the black plastic ones if you'd like to try them and see if it helps.
The 14 is still happens, but not as bad as the 07 built up. (I believe it's the 1.5 lugs that help in that dept.)
Honestly, I don't think you'll get rid of it until the front is blocked off.
REading on here, many have it blocked with no ill effects. I'm still thinking of it but unsure If I want to block or not....

Thanks Curtis. I did not know Yamaha had front plastic ones? I did have the plastic ones on the rear hole that I removed. Do you have a picture of them?

I asked my Yamaha mechanic about closing the front hole and he's not thrilled about doing it. Many reason not to close it. Only a few reason to close it. I have the 1.5" freeride and its still an issue.

The big reason I would close the front hole is I still have a huge issue with the ice dam in front of the heat exchanger. It happens all the time. I hate stopping the sled regularly to clean it out. That might just push me to close the hole this summer. Or I might just sell it in the fall and get a new sled.

My Bad cubby, I ran out to the cave to double check, I only have the rear ones.
My Mechanic was in the same recommendation to not block the front.
With My Hindle, not having that plate on the pipe to slow the direct flow of snow (at the front of the hole, welded to the stock pipes) i'm still on the fence whether to block or not. Been ok but running hot under there.

Love the sled except for the ice on the running board and the ice dam on the heat exchanger.

I have tried everything, only thing that is going to work is a combination of blocking off the tunnel and trimming the aluminum/rubber shield under the gas tank. Then the snow buildup will be in the footwells, much worse left side (clutch heat I guess). I have 1 Frogzskin in the clutch area, going to try adding a couple more.

I am looking for an alternative to aftermarket running boards, but nothing yet. The stock boards do NOT evacuate snow, and being aluminum the snow sticks really bad. Looking at "Rox Powder Grips", but waiting for them to be on sale as not very cheap for what they are.

Going to polishing the side of my running boards with a paste wax see if it helps

I installed a set of Mountain Tech boards and ice from top of the tunnel is a non issue any more. G.B.

I'm not sure why you guys don't block of the tunnel. My front and back are both blocked off and I have no ice build up on my boards what so ever. Every once in a while I get and ice dam in front of the heat exchange but it just falls out on its own and I've never had an overheating issue.

Love the sled except for the ice on the running board and the ice dam on the heat exchanger.

Please don't do this....
My buddy has a new one, it is like the Toyota Prius of snowmobiles!

*Quiet, just rediculas driving around, no sound. Snowmobiles have some sort of noise!

*He got into slush on a lake and power wasn't there to get out, stuck
3 people job on removal.
(My heavier Nytro & other sleds, no problem). a Phazer with 1.5 Freeride would have made it.
--Stuck again today 300' from his house, dug for 45 minutes then put it on trailer to go ride.

*1600 miles on it, currently running on 2 cylinders he thinks & 'lower on power'.. dealer guessing it's a coil issue, told him to keep riding till they can get a new part on Tues.

*only 90HP, it's not that great really.

Looks like a Porsche, goes like a Prius we tell him.... Just some thoughts.
