I've been noticing on quite a few threads that there's a lot of current Apex owners (from 2006 to 2015) that have been wanting to upgrade their Apex to a new Sidewinder. But due to the lack of fair trade in value they're holding off buying this year. Some guys are even worried about bodily harm from their spouse or going through divorce proceedings ; )
I'm sure that the lack of snow this winter along with dealers still unloading non current brand new sleds has had a major effect on the value of the older Apex's but what if Yamaha stepped up to the plate with some sort of incentives to the dealers to actually make it more attractive to take these Apex's in on a trade in? I've always felt that the Apex's are the most under valued used sled buy in the market.
These ideas are probably not feasible for Yamaha to even consider but what if:
Yamaha would offer the dealers some sort of kickback or other incentive directly to the dealer for any new Sidewinder sold to someone who traded in their current Apex? This could lessen the financial risk to the dealer to take an Apex as a trade.
Yamaha would offer a one year YES policy on all Apex models sold through the dealer that were traded in on a new Sidewinder? This could make buying a used Apex more attractive and easier to sell for the dealer.
Yamaha could run some sort of program to once again tout their "4-Stroke Advantage" that was so heavily promoted years ago when they first brought out the 4 stroke models only this time the program would be targeted to used Apex buyers to help the dealers move any trade ins.
It's pretty obvious that Yamaha is looking to move Apex owner up to the Sidewinder and here's a quote from Chris Reid from his Sled Talk blog: "We (I) hope that the Sidewinder has what it takes to move our 4-cylinder Apex faithful."
I'm sure that the bean counters at Yamaha have looked at everything to make the Sidewinder profitable for them and their dealers and I doubt that these ideas would even be feasible for them to consider. And I'm sure that they've got a pretty bright set of minds in their Marketing Dept. but it's always fun to speculate with a "What If?"
Any thoughts or other ideas?

The last couple years they have a program like this in the fall called "Trade My Sled". Extra $500 on top of trade in allowance if the trade meets the requirements.

I like the idea. The auto manufacturers do this as certified pre-owned. If you current Apex still has warranty and if it passes the dealer inspection, it could then be sold to a new customer as a certified pre-owned, a factory warranty to cover normal wear and tear issues.

I guess I'm the rare exception that the finance officer (wife) gave me the go ahead to get a new sled. The 17's will be at the Lehigh Valley dealer on Thursday the 17th. I told him I'd be down to check them out. But I also told him I wouldn't be buying this year. I'm still holding out hope for a built in Japan 4 cyl. Apex replacement in 18 with 50th anniversary colors. Cris Ried's comment about the Apex faithful moving to the Sidewinder leads me to believe the 4 cyl. is done after 17. So with the winter we just had, 1,400 miles for the year in a week out to Michigan, all the mods. and upgrades I've done to my Attak over the years. I think I'll be on the old girl for a very very long time! So to the point of the post. Do I see myself on a Sidewinder anytime soon? NO!

Ya,I would love that,my 15 xtx still has rest of this winter and all of next.I like the idea. The auto manufacturers do this as certified pre-owned. What a great idea,i am in,if they wanted it to happen ,my old dealer today said he is offering the 5 year warrenty, but in order to get it,you lose your snow check cash, and he said he like the long extended warrenty,of course he does,it benifets him when he has to take that sled back in trade in two years, and he can still sell it with 3 more years worth of coverage, who would not want to jump on that.I've been noticing on quite a few threads that there's a lot of current Apex owners (from 2006 to 2015) that have been wanting to upgrade their Apex to a new Sidewinder.
