Two separate issues: They both have been acting up sporadically on me the last few weeks and this past weekend they seem to be getting worse.

Issue Number One ... Turn my key, dash lights up and fuel pump does it's thing. Turn key to fire up but nothing happens ... just a click. After several attempts it will start.

Issue Number Two ... When sled is running, I push reverse button, and nothing happens, not even a code shows up on the dash. I can drive for a while , try again, and sometimes it will work for me.

Has anyone experienced these issues? Any fixes?

I'm thinking both these issues are moisture related.
I'm sure I read something related to this last year or before on the modules below the battery box getting wet with moisture. I can't find the topic postings on it now.

Help please!

The starter bolts might be backing out from what ive read on this site. And the reverse on the phazers are like that. I know that the RPM's have to be like at 1800 and ive herd that using the hand brake when you come to a sop also helps. When my phazer is cold even when the rpm's have come down but i havent ridden anywhere yet it dosent want to switch gears so i back into where i park it. Also rocking the sled foarwarnd and pack wards usualy get it to engage.

Issue #1 is most likely your starter relay (solenoid?). It's a black box with a few fuses on top of it, just in front of your battery. There's a positive and negative post on top of it, and if you jump those with a screwdriver (or whatever) it should turn over. $40 or so to replace it.

Issue #2: The chain has to be adjusted perfectly or it will shift only sporadically or by lifting the rear end of the sled. Turn the adjusting bolt until you just start to feel resistance and then back off 1/4 turn. Even then, mine works perfectly about 95% of the time, once in a while, I have to give it some throttle (4%) or lift the rear (1% and mostly when cold).

But you say that yours does nothing. Does the R light flash and buzzer fast beeping? It does this when it fails to shift and stays like that. If yours doesn't do that, then this sounds more like a bad electrical connection, relay or button.

I just took off the starter relay and can see that the plug in terminals are a little green with corrosion. I will clean them up and reinstall. Pretty sure this is my culprit for the starting issue. Thanks squirrelnuts.

I'm still puzzled by the reverse issue ... the starter relay has a reverse fuse on it so I am wondering maybe that one of the four terminals that have corrosion are for the fuse? Will have to try it to see I guess.

Mooseman ... reverse has acted up on me when the sled is well warmed up and at normal operating rpm. When I push the reverse button nothing happens, no buzzer, no flashing R light, no code on the speedo. I can drive for a while and try to shift into reverse again and it might work, it might not.
Yeah, sure sounds like a bad electrical connection.

I will have to check all the connections for good contact.

Bout time I spose, with 13,000 km's on the sled there's gotta be a few hiccups.

I'll update this thread after the comming weekend to see if I have the issues cured.

I replaced my belt with a 8DN-17641-01 and have not had a problem with reverse. Before I would have to jump up and down to get it to change. Now even cold it shifts back and forth with no problems.
