I had my trail tank out to install a tunnel exchanger and noticed the ignition coil plugs rubbing on the bottom of the trail tank. I'm not sure if it would have eventually caused a problem but just to make sure I rotated them to the front. I should have seen this when I did the original install.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look at mine when I go sledding.

Before and after pictures taken from the clutch side. In the first picture you can see how the connector is being pushed down by the tank. In the second picture I rotated the coils so the connectors are pointed to the front. Maybe Trail Tank needs to add this to their installation directions.

Good catch on that I checked and I can see that could be a future problem .Thanks

slide the tank back shade on the studs, and your fine...

Turn the coils! If the tank is not far enough forward things won't line up properly. Even if you have a small amount of clearance without rotating them the tank may expand and still hit the coil. I talked to CCLLC and they are aware of this and suggested rotating the coils as I did.

Thanks CCLLC for the quick response.

checked mine----3 holes worn in the heat shield.
Rotated them 1/4 turn--they clear now.
Was concerned about turning them a full half a turn as this left the open end with the wires in a vertical position,-with any luck moisture could sit in there and??

Its a good thing they left it to a customer to make sure we knew about this if they were aware... sorry but im not all that impressed with the tank, when i got mine i found a bunch of plastic shavings in the tank.. something that should have been cleaned out before i got it.. I also had to do some shaving myself, to get the fuel pump into the hole. i have the tank as far forward as possible, and the panels still done line up good at all.. I cant even get the 2 top push tabs in for the center plastic. idk what else i can do. ill try get some pics later.

I would recommend flushing the tank before installation regardless of the shavings. Just good practice. I haven't heard about fuel pump installation problems but the trail tank is definitely a tight fit. Loosen the steering support loop and make sure all wires, hoses and coils are out of the way. After you get the tank down in there you may have to use some force to get it forward. I used a rubber mallet to drive it forward. the studs need to be at least centered in the tank slots but get it as far forward as possible for a good fit. I found that the panel holes need to be slightly enlarged. A unibit works good for enlarging them. Be patient, your not the first one to struggle with it.

I had to use a couple 2X4's and a car jack to get my tank far enough forward to center it in the slots.
