Well After 3 yrs riding Polaris Rush 800 Switchbacks I'm comming home to to BIG BLUE!!!!

Bought me a red XTX and put my name on the list for the MPI Turbo which are due in 1st week of November. I did he spring test ride in Montreal WI and had mixed feelings on the sled.

Loved the ergonomics and the overall feel of the sled as much as I could with a supervised demo. The 141" track felt impressive as far as hook up and turning through the corners was no more difficult that the 136" on my switchback. The clutching and power was way off what I was expecting but have found that they were detuned do to clutching and making the sleds last for the demos. I think they have made several other changes in the gear boxes since then that should help. I did drop back quite a few times and really got on it going into the corners and you can throw the sled in hard and power out but the HP was too low for confident drive out. The big thing was no matter how hard I pushed it there was no ski lift.

I just put my name on the list for the MPI turbo kit that has been adapted from the factory approved Nytro kit. I think at 180 HP, the kick it was missing will be back. After 4 RX-1's (one with a stroked Apex Motor) several Apex's and a turbo RX-1 mountain I will finally get my fix my need for speed satisfied again.

As a side note I blew the motor on my 2012 rush 800 with 749 miles on it that same weekend. I still have a 2013 rush 800 switchback but am hoping this will become my daily driver.

Welcome. We sincerely hope you love the Yamaha quality

the last new sled i got was a 97 indy, ya i know it is an oldtimer but i seem to keep things for a long time, the sled has been bullet proof besides normal were, have wanted to buy an apex since the day they came out but our riding is alot of off trail and twisty bush trails, i think my new viper will be a blast!!! and yamaha reliable, also the price of a new apex was also a litle high the last few years!!!

Tell me more of this Factory approved turbo for the Viper. Price? who is installing it? Warrenty?

The factory approved MCI turbo (actually Super Charger) is now only approved for the Nytro. MPI is making the kit work for the viper because it is the same motor. BEWARE by installing it at this point will void the factory warranty on the viper. They (yamaha) are talking about offering it next year. I have checked with several dealers who install a ton of the kits on Nytros and they say there has been no motor failures over the past 2 yrs attributed to the turbo.

The kit for the Nytro is listed in the Yamaha accessories catalog.

The turbo kit retails for $4,595.00 and dealer installs for about $600 including clutching for the areas you normally ride. I rode the prototypes last year and felt there was of good things in the chasis and felt comfortable on the sled both sitting and riding standing. That is the main reason I left Yamaha after 15 yrs and over 20 sleds. I am still suspicious of the 2 strokes of Polaris after blowing the 2012 up with 700 miles. I am keeping my 2013 Pro R 800 for the time being untill I get some miles on this thing.

I am stoked to feel this thing kick me in the pants. I built an RX-1 with a stroked Apex motor in it a couple of years ago with 189 hp and it was a hoot. I had an RX-1 mtn with a bender turbo and trail rode it for a season it was scary fast but was so heavy I was afraid to get it in anywhere too deep cause when it was stuck you needed a wrecker to get it out.

Oh it is good to be back!! Now I have to wait till it shows up ERRGH. Not telling any of my friends cant wait till the first ride. I will show up and pull the Polaris Pro R 800 out of the trailer and then say OH WAIT I got a preformance upgrade to install and then back out the VIPER!!!!! Can't wait for the Jaw drops, and then won't tell them about the TURBO. :die

Figure on hanging back a bit on the trail then when we stop af the first spot tell them I am making a few suspension upgrades - fiddle with it a bit then when we take off light the wick SEE YA :moon:
