The new Phazers are much improved and they are still making changes every year it seems.Yes UpBushmans kit is the one to get and add grease fittings to it also like was recently posted.Should last forever. But keep in mind that when actually riding the thing you really dont "feel" all that slop at all.It must affect handling but I am telling you its not felt.Maybe thats why Yamaha didnt worry about it much and they probably have stock in Cheap plastic bushings.Remember the old Yamahas.Needlebearings everywhere. They also required maintainence but talk about precision!

Iknow it doesn't ride as bad as it feels. I don't really know how much worse it got since new (3000 miles now) New it was loose on the showroom floor.
Do i have to worry about air pockets or anything because i pulled the starter and leaked oil, plus the oil tank screen? Do i just fill and go? I'm assuming the correct proceedure is in the owners manuel?
Thanks again. Hopefully i'll be done soon and quit bothering everyone. Mike.

Its not a bother. It is no different than when you drain your oil for a oil change. If you have a issue then I would bleed it.If not dont worry about bleeding it like manual says.

Awesome, thanks! It's back together for the most part, but i still have to do clutches and the skid.
I should add that i was messin around with other stuff or it wouldn't of taken so long. I'll take a guess that i could tear it down and put it back together in 3 hours easy. I could see doing it in an hour if you did it a lot.

yup, it really inset that bad to to maintenance on. I spend more time looking for tools than I spend using my tools. I have never taken the front end off or anything just change plugs and oil/filter.

So the Doo dealer sent me an e-mail that he'd give me 3 grand for my sled on a 2010 TNT 550 Fan that i was interested in a while back.
I'd love a sled that was more old school as far as maintenance so i could do everything from the motor to the skid, keeping it simple, yet a sled that would work also.
Now i have mine about half done as far as maintainence, and also have it handling good, plus it's paid for, so tell me why i shouldn't buy a Doo.
I hope i don't get yelled at(moderators) for mentioning another brand, lol, or worse yet, completely destroying patty jacks thread, sorry.

Could always get a seccond sled lol
Well your almost done the maintenence for the year, I don't think you have to pull the front off every year. I spend an evening and I got the oil, filter and plugs done along with swap the slides, remove belt and loosen track. What else to I got to do really? Then its ready for next season.

Because a 600 liquid, carbed TNT is about same speed as a Phazer.A 550fan has got to be a TURD!Now the D.I. TNT I would not have much to say other than a motor/clutch reliability comparison that would tilt to Phazer for sure. But those things cost alot more than what you are looking at.You also wont get the amazing help that this site provides.Right.

Really think that 550 Fan is a turd? In 1998 i had a 440 Fan MXZ that went pretty good. That was probably the best sled i've owned.

550 Fan= TURD
I rode a 07' 550 Fan Rev. (Non XP) it was a TURD. I basically zip tied the throttle and used the kill switch.
