I'm getting ready to install my clutch kit tonight.. Do I have to twist the spring or something? I know I'm supposed to install the spring at 6 and 3. I thought I was just supposed to twist it to the right and put the bolts on? is this right?
twist it clockwise until the holes on the helix line up with the studs on the secondary. 90 is gonna seem kinda tight but that is what you need. tighten er up & go play.

It may help to use a couple of C-clamps to hold the sheaves together (and helix against the ramp shoes).

90 is what John from Proline recommended for his clutch kit. Shall I go to 80?

Unless you know something about the clutch kit that John doesn't, I'd start with his reccomendation...

You may want to consider assembling the secondary on the jackshaft with the E-brake on. This helps hold the thing from spinning as you do the twisting.
Also, you can place the belt or similar thickness shim between the jackshaft bearing mount (tunnel) and the secondary to hold the inner sheave out. This helps when trying to press the helix down on the studs.
Lastly, but most importantly, you may want to use some thin leather gloves to protect your hands. After 70 degrees, that helix can really whack or cut your hand. Also, it is a lot easier to hold on to it with thin leather gloves.
