Insurance cost
I am with Foremost and they have a 40 % surcharge on anything 700cc and over. My GT cost me $479.00 with just liability and comprehensive NO COLLISION. Collision would have cost me $550.00 MORE for a total of $1029.00 per year.

This is what I found. Called my insurance company and gave them the size of the motors in cc's for my RTX & wifes Vector and they called back and the price was around 350.00 full coverage attached to homeowners. Great no problem. Get a call three days later, "oh I'm sorry the girl in the office made a mistake, we don't insure any sled over 900cc". The agent is a freind of mine and I see him at all our local college hockey games. I said Jim let explain something to you, these are 4 stroke snowmobiles, and I gave him the whole fuel economy, quieter, longer lasting, no smell, reduced emissions...... He said Todd I had know idea, and most insurance co. still use the motorcycle mentality. He said they wanted to know how fast it went. I said stop right there, that argument aint goin to fly. He wanted me to drop by with any info I had on four strokes. I burried him in paper. I've got the feeling a lot of people are paying high premiums because of the lack of knowledge on the part of insurance co. I called Yamaha Corp. in CA and they did not have any info to send me regarding
4 strokes. I just think the gentleman I talked to didn't want to be bothered. To make a long story short my insurance company called me back the following day and said I was covered and there was no problem.
The premium stayed at 350.00. I guess my point is you have to start spreading the word. The funny thing is by the time I was done lecturing Jim he told me I should be a lobbyist.

I'm at $315 as part of my home and highway package and went through the same exercise as greenmntpass with my RX1, the Rage and now the GT.
It will continue to take time but I believe the insurance companies will come around as more 4-stokes hit the snow.
