Not unlike the Matrix.G5 chassis, ya right. The only thing different is the plastic and the looks. Its the same old chassis, same engines. Don't call it a G5! Its a plastic facelift with a new gauge.

Yes , skidoo did the same thing as Polaris . Put some new body panels on it . Then call it a new sled , Skidoo had a bigger change when they came out with the new suspension 2 years agoNot unlike the Matrix.

Supposedly there is a pile of other stuff based on the Doo boys on Snowest. Maybe Summit models got them?

I think he means ski doo is great at marketing. They are way better than the competition at least.

I'll agree with that. They are really good at making subtle changes a big deal.I think he means ski doo is great at marketing. They are way better than the competition at least.
Cat changes front suspension geometry and you barely even hear about it.
Doo changes front suspension geometry and it's billed as the greatest thing ever. Within 30 minutes, the Lester boys have a video out telling everyone that the RAS-X is way better than anything else.
Doo is a marketing genius. They figured out a long time ago how to appeal to the masses.

Exactly.
New gen 5 is same bulkhead and tunnel and rear suspension. New plastics and revised front end.
So they claim it's New.
Go read on doo talk and people believe it's a completely new sled.
So now they have to dump their old sleds and buy new because the Cool aid is really brainwashing them.

When you see the guys on DT self-justifying ordering a new sled even after they admit that nothing much has changed you know that ski-doo has some marketing juice. The spring orders are interesting because doo is obvious optimizing the factory floor(s) by limiting choice(s). The 850 is the only way to get the new gauge despite the fact that the 600 and 850 are the same everywhere else. The 900R would require new molds to take the new gauge so they just aren't doing that even though most people looking for a groomed trail machine would probably opt for the more expensive option ($1200.00!). It appears from the outside that ski-doo is being smart in planning for the manufacturing capacity that they will have for the remainder of the year and have acted accordingly.
The choice to OEM the kids sled under license from a competitor is another example of product management losing a battle over capacity planning but winning the battle at the internal level (justification to offer the kids sled). Its a smart move really and I am sure from their side of things (as a manufacturer) it probably stings a lot less than it would appear from the outside.
