In some of the new magazine ads coming out from Skidoo, they are comparing the 1200 4tec to the Vector instead of the Nytro. In the new ads they are comparing fuel capacity, mileage, weight, etc. Seems though that a lot of people including myself try to compare it to the Nytro due to the 130-135HP engine. Do you think this vehicle is a new crossover type (Not quite a hard riding bump machine like the Nytro, and not quite the Cadillac lake racer like the Apex), or is it just a way for them to get their feet wet in the 4 stroke market?
We all know you can take magazines with a grain of salt, but I found this article from a while back, and found it interesting. http://www.snowmobile.com/manufacturers ... r-652.html

This is not a bashing thread to see if this sled is good or not, or which brand is better. We all have our opinions on this, and don't really care. Just doesn't seem that one machine can be an all in one model? If so Yamaha would of stopped with a Apex RTX, and said this does it all. I think this is interesting since it is the only competition, or threat to date to the Yamaha 4 strokes. IMO which is worth nothing :drink:

:rules :letsnow:

Ya, I am little surprised about them picking the GSX over the Vector for the performance area. They really should have been comparing the Vector GT anyways. That's the flag ship, the GT. Having said this, I believe if I was looking in that sector for a sled, The new Vector GT would be an awesome sled for just trail riding. I did quite abit of reading in the spring about that sled. It does really well against an Apex in 1200+ft. It was only like a sled or 2 behind, and right beside it up to a 1000ft. According to Scott Reid from the Yamaha Blog, he said they worked alot on Suspension on this sled so it would really handle well. They know they have been lacking in that area for a while. I also talked with Ulmer and the only thing different in this motor is the ECU and maybe the cam.

All the comparisons on DOO-TALK should really be about the 2010 Vector and the MXZ 1200 4 tec. They are both really the same class.

What about the other 1200 models like the Adrenaline. Still think it is in the Vector GT class, or closer to the Nytro. Seems like they are trying to get this thing to cross over into a lot of different areas?? Makes it hard to compare true models. Also lets people play with their advertising, and confuse the consumer. Would be like putting our Nytro engine in all our model types and claiming a particular advantage point any time you needed a comparision?

Put it to you this way..... I compare the Nytro to the OLD REV chassis. The XP chassis really should be compared to the Apex/Vector chassis. Even though they run the XP chassis in sno-x, ski-doo has quickly realized that going back to a relaxed type seating position has not work for their sno-x teams. I was told by my dealer that went to ski-doo show in Vegas in the spring that DOO has now realized they cannot build a trail sled and race sled the same anymore. It is just not working. Look for a new race sled from DOO in the future. Look at Cat, they have a limited build race sled that looks a little like the F chassis sled, but is way different. DOO is getting their #*$&@ handed to in sno-x.

Back to your point that they never compare the right sleds against each other. The GSX should be against the Venture GT which is the same motor as the Vector. It's very misleading for the consumer.

Nytro is a better bump sled then the MXZ XP. When you sit on an older REV chassis and sit on a Nytro, they feel the same. OEM models and sleds do not always match in terms of classification.

Very interesting indeed :-)

I think the fx nytro is a step up from the old rev chassie. I had that before my nytro. When I get on my buddies rev after riding my nytro it feels like going from my rev to my zr chassie. and i have not had a sled handle big bumps like my nytro since my zr 440 race sled the rev was more comfortable on trails but that race sled was fun you could beat the crap out of it and it would just reward you for it. the bad thing about the cats is that they feel like you are sitting in the back of a limmo when you are driving it. MAN I got way off subject with that lol.

Maybe, but the seating position is virtually the same as the REV to the Nytro and the XP is more of a 2005-2007 Mach Z seatin position.

I have a 1200 X pkg and my brother has a 1200 GSX limited. While they are both XR 1200's they ride and handle completely different. The engines even sound different. The Xpkg feels tighter and more responsive through the trails while the GSX feels softer and less planted more of a touring sled.

Good point when trying to do apples to apples compare.
