171 HP 2007 Yamaha APEX.

The next step from Yamaha?

The motor is already being built, and has been for 3 years. Motor is a HO version of the current engine.

CURRENT APEX MOTOR

150 HP

11.4:1 Compression

998 CC

74mm X 58mm

FUTURE 07 APEX HO MOTOR

171 HP

11.9:1 Compression

1052 CC

77mm X 58mm

Many will enjoy the new ride and performance of the 06 APEX with Fuel Injection.

Wait to 2007 when the HO motor is released. WATCH OUT MACH Z ! !

It was posted on amsnow. Don't believe it. It's not happening.

I could be way off here but I don't think there is any way Yamaha would RD the Apex for just one year. They would have made an 06 RX-1 if the new Apex was due out in 07. I believe that sled exists but it'll probably be atleast 2 model years away (2008)

They will still offer the 150 hp Apex and then offer a expensive limited production HO model ;)! ;)! SIGN ME THE #$%&* UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've heard something similar recently, but it sounded so far fetched that I never cared to repeat it, then this thread. I heard that Yammi will discontinue the current 4 cyl engines in as soon as 2 years in favor of 2 or 3 cyl mills. Interesting that what you've posted here doesn't mention how many cylinders...maybe what I heard wasn't so far off afterall. BTW, I heard this from the same guy that told me Lotus will be producing Cat's next engine(s), and that appears to be happening.

I can see them doing this. The Apex is really opening eyes right now. Just think how many power mongers would jump on board and buy a HO version :ORC

Yeah, they have most of that available right now in the watercraft motor, well that displacement and 160 of the HP.

I did ask my ins co a while back, what happens to rates if you go over 1000cc? They said hmm, we'll have to get back to you on that one.
