Saw screen grab of what looks like the patent for a Catalyst with an inter cooled 4 stroke in it. In light of how little innovation was revealed by the Polaris and Skidoo camps maybe this really could be the year of the cat? It is obvious from the fact that the Catalyst has a chaincase housing that it was intended to have a 4 stroke in the future. My personal take I can’t see that if they release a new skid frame which Darling has actually talked about they will release an all new 4 stroke sled, mostly because unless it was well along under Textron they won’t have had time to design and test it yet? After my experience in Quebec this year they need a high performance 4 stroke to stay competitive here in Canada for the trail segment. Unlike old Lester says in his podcast smooth reliable 4 strokes are a huge part of the market which is still growing. From what I am seeing Cat will need to get into the adventure touring segment with and massive overweight 16 or 20” track, factory storage racks with an articulated skid for backing up in deep snow too. I personally have zero interest in these behemoths but it is a big trend here in Canada. Cat has industry exclusive power steering already, awesome Garmin dash with navigation in a great looking new chassis so here is hoping they keep the 998t.

Arctic Cats 27 release is today. Guess you’ll find out, but it you have “zero interest on these behemoths” why do you care, and why would you ask it here?

I am crossing my fingers the 998T stays alive. I could care less if someone else thinks they are too heavy. I don't do off trail stuff, so fast and reliable is all I care. My only hope is the old Cat trust is back and from my understanding they had a good relationship for the most part with Yamaha. It was Textron that was not so much. We should know soon. Anyone hear the release time today?

Guys, I think you are taking his 'behemonths' comment out of context.

I believe he means all the large 20 inch track, double up, touring/adventure sleds loaded down with luggage you see in Quebec .
There are lot of them for sure. I spoke to one local that had one and he claimed they need that 20 inch articulated track for the amount of snow they get up there. Think Skandic and Tundra models

Well ,the Catalyst version was internet BS it looks. Oh well, the 998T still lives. I like the looks of them, especially the black/red one.

Where are you seeing this is a trend? I ride in Ontario, not seeing anyone with the widetrack sleds on the trail. Mostly utility.
