Those 03 tracks sure do seem to have there problems with the torque of the Rx, we are going to put on one of the new pre-studded tracks this year on my girlfriends rev 800 and see how well they work, should be interesting to see. One thing there should be a noticeable weight savings with the pre-studded but I wonder how well they will actually bite into the various conditions. I let you guys know how it turns out.

Thunder lip's i am frome Fond Du Lac area as well (Oakfield) so i know the trail condition's in the area well. I have been going with 144 in center belt on the RX and now the Vector. You will have better chances of track and stud damage frome 96 because of what was stated above with more load per stud. Also stoping is as much of an issue as well and 96 come's up a little short on ice with weight transfering off of the track. When you stay in the center it does not like to push as much in the corner's. IMO 192 is not necessary for trail riding. Drag racing on hard pack your hook up is MAINLY up to your track, And on ice 192 trail stud's will not hook up hard either. Just my 2 cent's Kevin

96 is more than enough
(assuming a 121" tarck). I used to use the 1 PER Hp rule as well but that is a rule made up by the stud manufacturers to get you to buy more studs. I ran 96 Roetin Hornets (Love those studs!!
) on my 1.25" (2003 RX1) for approx 2500 miles and didn't even have one bend. I call this "Safety Studding" and it works well.
Let's face it....Damage to the track is already done once you put the first hole into it. Rotating Mass is a reality and 96 down the center works very well. Unless you are ice racing there is no need for more than 2 studs per lug.

so how many studs do you "experts" reccomend for a new predrilled ripsaw 136"? mostly trail riding.

Well INDY...in my "expert"
opinion...I would still say....2 per lug.
regardless of how many pre-drilled holes you have.
I bought my Renegade and it already had 3 & 4 per lug respectively...I removed every stud so that there was only 2 studs per lug leftover. You should feel the weight of the box of extra studs/backers and bolts...it must be 2 or 3 LBS.
