I have done many searches on sythetic vs Yamalube and found alot of good info, but there seems to be a big variation on what mileage is OK to make the switch to synthetic oil. I have no issue with Yamaha oil but I like Mobil1 and have had good luck with it. Some say 500 miles is OK and i've seen some say wait till 2000 miles. I hvae no issue waiting, just want to do what's best for the motor. Thanks.

im sure 500 miles is safe, but if you dont mind waiting 1,000 is probably a little better. i swapped my motorcycle over at 500 miles like the manual suggested and i have zero issues. the sleds break in motors faster, so go for it!

Change it now, its fine. IMO it's the rings you need to be concerned about if you change too quickly.
I also recommend amsoil. It isn't formulated to a price point like Mobil 1 is. Every head to head test I have ever read amsoil wins hands down.

I decided to wait till this season to go 100% synthetic..I have always run full synth oils for many yrs....I think anything above 1000 miles is surely OK.....
Im running Redline 5w20 in motor and the Redline Lightweight shockproof in chaincase....But you will hear many opinions on oil brands here im sure....
Be sure to change filter when going from the semi to fully....at least i would recommend it.
my 2 cents

Talked to my dealer the other day about this...They highly reccomend sticking with Yamalube for cold starting purposes.

I've been running Mobil 1 0w-40 and I've also used Mobil 1 15W- 50 in my 04 Warrior from 2000 miles to present. It now has 7700 miles on it! I broke it in the "Motoman Way" and it is one strong running mother

Your not going to beat synthetic when it comes to starting period.

I have also done ALOT of research on synthetics, and Amsoil ALWAYS comes out WAY better than anybody elses oils !!! ( my 2cents)

What about the wet starter clutch I thought full synthetic would cause a failure

No problem with that I've used Synthetic Oil in several motorcycles and ATV's with similar "Wet Starter Clutches" for 12 years and never had a problem, and in my 04 Warrior for 3 years now!

Yes 1000 miles is fine, and yes Amsoil is great, but I feel the ultimate is Royal Purple. Most big boy drag racers use it. Check it out if interested. If I wasn't running RP, then I'd definitely run Amsoil.

I think you only have to worry about a wet starter clutch problem if there is an "energy conserving II " stamp on the bottle. Just "energy conserving" is ok.
