Thinking of buying one. Other than the motor, is anyone not really happy with the weight, handling, suspension, etc? I have a upper back injury and can't drive a heavy to turn sled. I really like the concept of the attak and maybe the apex and did like how they rode when I did the demo ride, but my concern is after 100+ miles will it get the best of me?

i have a lower back injury and i can ride all day with no issues but once i get off i do feel it between the shoulders a bit and the lower back, but overall i have found it to be the most comfortable rider foward sled

Same as Blue er. I have two slipped disks in my lower back and have had no issues with my back on the sled.

the only thing I feel after 200 miles is sore muscles between the shoulders the next day. But it is not from steering, it is from the addicting pull when you keep stabbing the throttle to lift the skis! LOL

You really don't feel the weight on the trail, the Apex is very well ballanced. What sled are you coming off of?

this is the best riding sled i have ever been on. rode with revs and f cats last couple weeks and even they admit it is unbelievably smooth. I only have a complaint with the traction in non hardpack snow on my apex. spins the blazes. on hardpack it pulls awesome now but still not great on fluffier stuff

I currently ride an 02 700X skidoo. It's very light weight, and I can steer it all day long and it doesn't really hurt me. I had a REV and sold it because the steering was way too heavy and I could never get it to steer lighter. I did like the rider forward but with the heavy steering it aggravated an old whiplash injury and for the next year and a half it felt like someone was stabbing me with a knife between the shoulder blades 24/7. I am so gun shy to go to a Rev for this reason and love the idea of the Attak or Apex but must admit due to the weight I'm nervous that the steering will be too much. Can you adjust the front weight on these like the old zx chassis doos? I don't know ANYTHING about Yamaha's since I have only rode Doo's my whole life, but I'm to the point that I either need to completely overhaul my sled again or buy something else.

Yes this sled rocks!! I can ride so so fast in the trails it is sick!! And run good on the lakes to for a stock sled.

I don't know what you guys have done to your machines but my 06 Apex ER can be a handful around corners. I agree that on nice grooved trails that the rear skid really soaks up the bumps so the back pain is not an issue. When it comes to this machine pushing in the corners and sometimes being hard to turn I'm not sure what you guys have done to eliminate this part of the machine. There are 3 of us that bought these machines this year and love them for the motor and rear skid but hate the front end handling. Please advise if you have some suggestions on setting these up to steer better.

Pros: As a high mile trail sled, it absolutely rocks IMO. Can't think of a sled I'd be more comfortable on for a long day of high speed trail riding, bumpy or not. I agree the weight is generally invisible on the trail.

Con: As a boondocker, the weight rears its head and it becomes a serious handful.

Sawsalesman, I really like the way mine corners. It NEVER pushes at all. I believe the skis are largely to credit for this, as is suspension. Here's mine: Slydog Powderhound skis, Bergstrom 8 inch triple points and ski savers, toed in about 1/16 to 1/8 inch, limiter strap sucked up one hole from stock, front springs loosened to the point that they barely touch the stops when the front is raised, transfer set between 1/2 and 2/3 to the max side, sag set two steps stiffer than the manual's measurements put it, C-clip in the stock position, and RA adjuster all over the place depending on conditions at the moment. Mine's an Attak with track also replaced with a 1.5 inch unstudded Intense. I'm usually 190 lbs in boxers after my morning constitutional...

I don't know which of my setup provided me the best improvement, but as a whole it flat works.

SLP Snow pros,Ski savers, ski shims,6" Bergstrum rods, Fox airs set at 40psi, ONLY two studs per row!

Couldn't say it better myself!

Only things I don't like with my Attak is that it is not real happy about getting on top of the powder, and the weight can (sometimes) be an issue off-trail and boonedocking thru the woods. If you are likly to keep it on-trail. You will absolutly love it! Oh yea, stiffer foam in the seat would also be nice....thinking about a Mnt-Mod or Boss if I keep in another year.

I love my Apex RTX, handles great I had back problems when younger .
My back would kill me on my Rev and I had 2 of them.
As well as my knees would ache.
Only bitch I have about my Apex is the noise.
TOO loud.
Im going to dealer tomorrow to see a another to see if its as loud as mine.
Mine aint normal.

apexaholic check your intake boths on to your injector bodies , mine were seating about a 1\4 inch above. making my sled real loud .
