I pick mine up tomorrow and I will be riding it hard right from the get-go.
I have a buddy who is a race bike motor tuner and he thinks that the oil burning issues on the RX1s were caused by breaking in too easy.
Break in fast, get a fast sled, break in slow, get a slow sled.....

Get him to order the rings now, that way he'll have them when you need them. Tell him to get a few sets in and keep them aside for you. ![Die :die :die](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/die.gif)

I rode mine hard varying the rpms put ran it through out the full range. Whole shots then wot for 5 seconds or so let off wot let off to a stop and doer again. I did this for 41 miles then changed oil and filter! I put castrol GTX 5w-30 in and a K&N 303 filter. Then I will change oil and filter again at 500 miles, but I will go to Yamaha 0w-40 CW semi synthetic. next year i will go full synthetic. you broke it in hard like alot of us like to do, but get the metal out of the motor!!!

From riding bikes that utilize variations of these motors theres really no such thing as breaking them in hard. I'd just not recommend full WOT lake runs (which for most of us the lakes are just getting to be frozen) otherwise run it hard and vary the RPM's. Best thing you can do.

Re: Is my dealer on drugs or am I breaking in my sled in wro
You are alot easyier on that machine than I ever was on mine. And I never got to break it in stock. My turbo was on from new. But I definatlly agree with the rest of the guys about the WOT runs on the lake. Don't hold it to the bar for prolonged periods of time, till the motor is properlly broken in and you get some milage on it. My motor with the turbo started to loosen up after about 1000 miles and it just got better every ride. I now have over 6000 mile on it with no issues.![Div20 ;)! ;)!](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/div20.gif)
Rotax! said:so am I breaking it in wrong, or is the damage done and should I just bring it in for a new motor now.
I'm sure I did not harm it, but I think they are just pissed at me and he is just saying BS to get me pumped. BTW, it's working....
What do you think?
