Man that is strange, I have no clearance at all for support metal on the inside of the tunnel for the front holes! I hope this doesn't screw anything up, as far as the tunnel goes? I have alot of support on the outside though!

Did you remove all the rivet heads on the inside of the tunnel?

If it is to tight i will just take 1/16" off the Cat skid. I feel i need steel on the inside of the tunnel.
Aluminum is just too soft!
Thank you Skydog

Well, I hope mine is going to be alright, it is pretty tight getting it up in there! I would prefer to have steel on the inside also but Im not too sure about taking a 1/16" off of the skid?! I managed to get it all installed tonight and something just doesn't seem right, I think it is cocked in there about an 1/8". I'm going to have to pull it back out and do some adjusting or sumthin'! Also, I didn't bend up the rails and I think they are definately going to have to be bent up, the track is basically riding right on the front of the skid! All this garbage goin' on is starting to discourage me, I tend to screw things up for myself!

Focker, You will be fine man!! What do you mean about cocked in there about an 1/8". I am sure it will be cake to cut the Cat skid and tap alittle more thread if need be. The Yamaha skid is 16 1/2" wide, my goal is to make the Cat skid the same!

Remember, this tunnel is soft aluminum, and flexes easily. Also, I checked my sled, and the inner brackets I installed (fronts) are just about exactly the same thickness as the heat exchanger brackets. Below are some pictures. First is the outer bolt pattern of the rear bracket, holding it to the tunnel.

Skydog, I mean that the whole skid is turned in the tunnel by about an 1/8". One side is farther back than the other causing everything to be cocked. I noticed it when I was going to adjust the track and one of the adjusting bolts was sticking out farther than the other, enough for me to notice. So I think I can make some adjustments with my brackets and so on to straighten it out a bit, other than that I'm gonna say screw it!!
This is strange because you guys both seem to have the clearance for the extra aluminum but mine is tight as can be!! I think it will be ok with the amount of support I have on the outside. Also, my rails seem to be rubbing pretty significantly on the front, yours look ok nhrx....strange?!
Maybe I will give you a call tomorrow Skydog, and we can hash this out verbally!
Good pics nhrx, looks like you got a slight corrosion prob though!! :?
