IT WAS DOWN TO THE FUSION OR RX-1

It is really weird that in 1500 miles riding this season, I have only seen one Fusion out on the trails.

I've seen a pair together at a bar, thats the most I've seen. As ugly as it is, would you buy one?

You are lucky you stayed away from the Fushion here in Ontario dealers are having to sell for $2,000 below cost and even at that they can't sell.

Jim

I'm wondering if the same goes for the Mach Z's that haven't sold yet. There are a few dealers that have them in the showrooms. Either they are asking too much, or everyone heard about the problems so there they sit.

We saw at least 6 Mach Z's on our four day trip from Presque Isle up to Copper Harbour and back. And before you ask, no they were not being towed.

What was surprising was number of 2002 Polaris 700 and 800 sleds still out there. Those guys are not upgrading sleds like everyone else.

I haven't seen any dead Mach Z's yet. The Polaris sleds all look the same. How can you tell from year to year?

You're right, they're just like ugly women, there everywhere. Just didn't know how long they were made or what colors they were. Lots of Polaris riders love their M10's.

Friend of mine has 05 Mach Z and has 400 miles on it. It's been into the dealer 4 times. The latest is that it would not start he got pissed off and kicked the seat and it started. He rode some more and stopped and the same thing. So whenever he stopped he would try and start it, wouldn't and would kick the seat and it would. The dealer wouldn't believe him so he showed them. They have not found thed problem in 6 days and now have to replace the seat too. :drink: :drink: :drink:

Musky - I came from an 02XC8 with M-10 as well.

Vibes on the Fusion are about the same as the XC. You probably just didn't realize after getting use to the smoothness of our RX-1's.

My bud got a Fusion and I put about 15 miles on it. I liked the fact that with the handlbars back - It felt just like my XC.

For the first 200 miles he got around 6-7 MPG then after that (we put on 800 miles together in 3 days) he was getting almost 11. My 05 RX-1 gets about 12 1/2 - dissapointing compared to what everyone else seems to get with the RX-1's but still better than the 10 we got with the XC8's.

I'd say the M-10 and Monoshock are pretty even skids - give a slight edge to the Monoshock because of a little better transfer - it seems to resist bottoming better when setup for hard riding and mogul mashing than my M-10.

I don't think the RX-1 will be able to handle as well as the XC-8 on the tighter trails without adding some aftermarket mods - but I hate to spend the money knowing that it still probably won't be better from everything that I read. Not bad handling - but that extra 70 lbs carrying into the corner and the fact that on the gas out of the corner always pulls the skis off the ground (have slightly more ski pressure from transfer settings than I normally would too, so I don;t want to adjust that anymore).

Overall - I'd take the RX1 still - but I have a hard time shaking the comfort level of the ergos with the XC chassis.

No way my 02 XC800 ever shook like this one did. My XC really wasn't bad. But you're right, an electric motor seems rough compared to these RX-1s.

Sorry to hear about your mileage. I'm about 280lbs plus gear so I knew I probably would never see the 17-20 mpg as some have claimed. I'll take the 14mpg for a sled with under 200 miles. I don'thave a clue as to what could be pulling your mileage down.

My old M-10 was better in the small stutters and that was about it. It made them literally dissappear! I like the mono in all other areas though - Weight transfer is awsome-I lost several drags w/ my M-10 to lesser sleds for this reason.
I think this sled "feels" just as light and as agile as my EDGE was. Maybe because i'm heavy to begin with! :D

Not much action on that old VES Yahoo site lately, eh Ken? :rocks:

A big bore 2 cylinder is gonna vibrate pretty bad especially compaired to the inline 4 of the RX wich of course has some VERY mild sport bike type vibes you can feel in the floorboards at 5500 RPM which is not really in the cruise or powerband anyway. What got me is the Vector has a balance shaft and that says alot about yamaha priorities. Vibration is one of the reasons they stuck with the 2 cycle tripple while everybody else was going with twins.

Kenlacy,

MPG are extremely dependent upon type of trail, weather, throttle use, etc. Some people claim high teens and most seem to be around 14. My 03 cluthched and ECP gets almost identical mileage to my 05 bone stock. In the trails around Western NY (hilly and twisty with open fields for WOT) I will be lucky to get 14-15 and usually get 12-13. In Quebec last year I routinely got 15-17. As long as you put in less gas than your buddies on the same ride you are doing ok.
