Do any of you have a key that looks like a jack knife? The blade is a key.
I have an 06 that I got from Hackers in Houghton lake.
I'm surprised I haven't lost it.

They recalled them because they would get caught and break off
Still have mine and still in use.

Took mine apart and took keys out. Reason is they were prone to getting caught and turning the key to start and burning out the starter.
Also have Rocks starter saver that warns you if starter is on.

i have two. Kept the key from my first apex when I sold it. I liked it so I kept it. Bought an 06 attak, came with the jack knife key, tried the other jack knife key from my apex, low and behold it fit and works fine.

Any pics of these special keys, I'd like to see one if possible?

that is exactly what happened to my 2006 Apex Gt last winter. I had the folding key and apparently it jammed the starter in the on position and burned it up. You would think you would hear the jam but that wasnt the case. Never heard anythng to indicate something was wrong. Have since tossed the folding key and use standard keys. expensive lesson

What is pushing the key on. If something is jamming the knife on, it would probably pushing t regular key also. You guys don't have your feet, up there do you. Over 16,000 miles with no key problem.

I still have & use mine for my '06 Apex. No issues. You have to smarter than the key.
Trick is to put it in so if it folds over, it fold forward and not down where it can get caught/jammed on the bodywork, and thus fry the starter.
And Irv, pic attached
It's in the 1/2 position in the picture.
