Doing the preseason on my apex and noticed the jackshaft bearing collar nut was loose. Tore it down and something doesnt seem right. Logic tells me that with the tapered sleeve the larger id portion of the race should go out toward the secondary, but when i do that the sleeve fits halfway into the bearing. What am i missing? Images are of the sleeve both ways (matching taper and reverse) but i cant imagine it should be reverse? Same fittment it i put them on the jackshaft so the sleeve isnt pinched down at all. Could the sleeve be worn since it was loose?

Everything except why mine doesnt fit flush. It actually goes about 1/2 of the depth past flush into the race. I ordered a new bearing and collar, i'm guessing that will fix it.

Wonder if not having that collar on the jackshaft where it might expand the collar in order for it to slide onto the jack is why the collar is going 1/2 of the depth past the race. It's possible that just sliding the collar itself into the bearing is the reason its not fitting flush.

Yeah, i thought the same thing but i put it on the shaft and it still slid in half way. I'm thinking it spun in the race and machined itself down. I will look at the diameters once i get the new part. $70 for a bearing and collar.Wonder if not having that collar on the jackshaft where it might expand the collar in order for it to slide onto the jack is why the collar is going 1/2 of the depth past the race. odds are it will just need the new wedge. on my 11 it sits just inside the bearing when i did it.

Same exact thing happened to me last season, I thought I was going mad with the collar not sitting flush with the bearing race. It ended up being the collar had worn down from rotating against the bearing as was said above. Not a cheap part but I was able to reuse the nut just fine.

Yup, got the new parts yesterday and exactly the case, the collar was worn about .040. I guess i will try some loctite on the collar in addition to it being a lock nut.Same exact thing happened to me last season, I thought I was going mad with the collar not sitting flush with the bearing race.
