jackshaft bearing

Chain and gear removal is necessary for JACKSHAFT bearing, not DRIVESHAFT bearing (behind speedo gear).

To remove driveshaft bearing, undo the bolts and remove the speedo and alignment plate. Use a LONG allen wrench to remove the TWO set screws on the bearing collar IN THE TUNNEL. Make sure that the track is loose, then the bearing should practically FALL out, otherwise a crowbar lightly against the wheel should be enough to nudge the bearing out.

Its stuck!!!!!!

Two hours of pushing, twisting, pounding, cussing and the bearing has not moved. Bent nail bar and may now need to replace drive wheel.

Guess I'll try it by the book and see what happens

A little heat helps, get a water bottle to spray on the plasctic drive wheels. To keep them cool.

OK ... finished the drive shaft bearing. Not sure if I need to take on the Jackshaft bearing. Sled has about 4500 miles on it. Seams that bearing should last longer.

I pull the outer seals on mine and pack them with waterproof synthetic grease every season. I have 5700 miles on my 04 Warrior and there still in good shape

Everything is off down to the jackshaft bearing but I dont see how to remove it without pulling the shaft (brack & chaincase) out. You can touch the bearing I just dont see how to get it out.

Anyone found a work around to get that sucker out? Getting the new bearing in will be easy.

Pulling that bearing without a bearing puller would be extremely difficult. You'll need to access the center of the bearing to be able to get it out, and the only way to do that is with the shaft out (pull the brake, chaincase). Pulling all of that is actually the easy part of the whole thing, IMO. If you're updating to the '04 locking collar w/nut, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Mine is an updated 04 bearing. With 4700 miles on the sled should I even worry about the bearing yet? It looks fine from the side.

Keep it simple, then. Pull the secondary off, then take a dental pick and carefully remove the bearing seal that's facing you. Don't bend it. Repack it with grease (rotate the track a few times to really work the grease in). Install the seal again and you're done.
