Guys...check your jackshaft bearings on the RX-1 right behind the secondary clutch. I have lately seen a lot of em letting loose & blowing apart. Yamaha knows this is a problem & is standing behind it.

I blew a belt, and discovered that the secondary bolt backed out, and the secondary fell off. The split collar backed out. Although I was sure I tightened the secondary bolt, I assumed that I must have forgotten to do it. I tapped the collar back in, and it has been fine.

After reading some other posts, I'm starting to believe that I did tighten the bolt. I have loctite on it now.

jack shaft

yes check those jack shafts i found that my bearing and spacer were installed backwards took it out turned it around driller the spacer and put set screws in it and it still pushed the spacer out. tryed to order the 04 set up but its b/o i guess it lock tite stud and bearing mount time as well as the set screws. this set up is doomed to fail as mine was in i a revers mode it pushed the clutch over and ruined the of set as well as the center to center it would walk back and fort at its owen sweet time as i checked it several times and it was good but i was haveing belt trouble finlay it was out and had pushed the clutch up aganst the stop washer. i think i will try and make a new bushing with some set screws to take a reguler 6206 bearing :(

Black John,
You have got to have something else wrong. This is not a common problem, so it can't be a design problem. There are plenty of people with turbos that aren't having this problem. As I said, I might have not tightened my bolt, and have had not had the problem since. Have you had it to the dealer?

bearing

i think it is a design problem you cant run two tapers together and then add torqe and hp it just cant live. and if it was not a problem then why did it get changed on the 04,s to have a nut and a washer added to sleve to hold it in place and the sleve is suposte to go from inside to the out side not outside in thats the way thr shop manual shows it and thats the way the other one sitting beside mine is in. check you build date maybe some of the early build ones came? all the secondary hase to do is touch it a few times and it comes out. any way the 04 parts are on back order they must have used up there stk

6060 miles my axle shaft bearing went and ruined speedo sensor about 10 miles from dealer in matane quebec, they fixed that, when i got back to ft kent i dropped off my rx1 at rogers sports center, they said the jackshaft bearing was bad on clutch side, bushings wore out in front spindles, installing new seat cover and welding the crack i had found on the main bulkhead just behind the secondary clutch,i still think a grease fitting would help the bearings but not one there so they can just replace them every year under my extended warrenty i guess
